Not really, but I think all 2023 Prius and Prius Prime trims will come with a spare-tire nest. Whether some trims will come with a spare tire in the provided nest is unknown.

i guess that's why it's so important to see how far back the battery and charger go

Yes, I ordered one in February 2022, and I am currently No. 1 on the waitlist for a 2023 Prius Prime SE in black/black. I should get it around May 2023.

since you're driving a gen4, maybe you're more aware of the changes. i supose you can cancel after it comes in if you don't like it?
i'm concerned about the seat and ceiling height, and ground clearance. as well as hatch height from floor to hatch glass.
i like to sit in the front and back, get a feel for things, then take a test drive. it looks like a great car, but there's no way to be sure until you get your hands on it.

With me having an height of the average for Japanese men, the Japanese cars are perfect for me in terms of access.

The only thing that could disappoint me would be inferior steering. The Gen 4 Prius Prime steers very well, and I hope Gen 5 will steer as well or better.

i'm only 5'-7", but the gen 3 is just enough height. i wouldn'tbe comfortable with anything lower, but it also depnds on inseam and torso measurements.
if the car is fabulous, i can ignore a lot

How can you order a car that hasn't been released yet?

I originally ordered a 2022 Limited, but the Limited was scarce, and I never made past No. 16. My dealer called me a couple of weeks ago, and he asked me to confirm what model I wanted, and I changed my mind and switched to a Prime SE, which automatically moved me to No. 1, as the base and mid-trims were widely available.

The way the ordering works is that your priority is entirely determined by your order date. The dealer allocations are entirely random, and the dealer processes the list according to the order dates. So, as soon as a black Prime SE arrives, the dealer will call me and I'll immediately get it, as no other person placed a base-trim order before me. However, if I change my mind and ask for an XSE Premium, there could be a dozen people who placed orders before me. In principle, I could change it to a bZ4X, and my no. on the list will still be determined by my order date and others' dates for a bZ4X. I hope I explained the ordering procedure clearly.

Toyota hasn't released info the Prius Prime yet; Production hasn't started yet. I doubt your dealer actually was able to put an order in with them. You have a reservation. I do believe that will become an actual order by the end of this quarter.

I thought I had made it clear, but it turns out that it was not.

Dealer allocations are entirely random. Neither the dealer nor the customer can place an order with Toyota.

You place an order with the dealer, not with Toyota, by placing a deposit. If/when the dealer is allocated a car that matches what you ordered and your order date is earlier than all other customers' wanting the same vehicle, you get a call from the dealer to purchase the car.

That does not sound like an "order" to most. At least not in the usual sense. That is just a waiting list. If the dealer you placed an order never receives allocation of the model you "ordered", then you never get what you want.

That is correct. That is why I never got a 2022 Prius Prime Limited. You can call it whatever you want, but that is the only way you can purchase a popular Toyota unless you are willing to pay a $5,000–10,000 markup.

While I missed the tax credit, I will have upgraded to a better car with a 2023 Prius Prime SE, as it comes with TSS 3.0+, which I care about most, as well as a 40-mile EV range vs. 25 miles of its predecessor. I am now No. 1 on the waitlist for a 2023 SE, and my dealer is the biggest Toyota dealer in the world; so, I should get a black SE no later than in the summer or so.

Precisely. At best, it is a pre-order, like with a computer game that hasn't been released yet. The odds of getting a vehicle in the next 6 months are much better, but it isn't different than having a Cybertruck reservation.

Again, it is neither an order nor a preorder from Toyota. It is an order from the dealer, subject to the entirely random dealer allocations and the customer's place on the waitlist, the latter of which is determined by the order date. My $500 deposit is refundable and my dealer does not have a markup, but other dealers may have a markup and not refund the deposit if the customer changes his/her mind.

Well you might be first in line but it appears you don't know if any dealer mark up. And if there is a mark up - you don't know how much. Why get all excited then find out dealer is trying to rob you blind with high mark-up, which you did not factor in.

When my time comes to buy (when ever) - I'm going to know the grand total sum of vehicle purchase versus just looking at sticker price and then speculating on additional costs. Can't blame dealer if he or she see's buyers lining up saying "I Want" and could care less what dealer mark up is. So folks here need to learn how to "Horse Trade". Or they will get Burned.

No, I do. My dealer never charges a dealer markup. That is also in my order contract with them. I will be charged MSRP minus any Toyota rebates.

The dealer where I live has a similar process but they were very clear in telling me I was not actually ordering the car. Toyota unfortunately is not allowing dealerships to order cars for customers in the way they used to. I’m sure you are all more experienced with this than I am.

I’m my situation I’m on a waiting list for the next time their allotment has a Prius/Prime with my requested specifications. These cars within the allotment have arbitrary add ons such has door guards, all weather mats, upgrade to 12 inch media screen etc. I have to take it as is or wait for next allotment to see if my specifications show up. Obviously they could remove certain add ons once it arrived but I would still be paying for them. I’m in line for a 2023 because I said no to a 2022 Prime Limited and Prius XLE. I wasn’t ready to commit plus at the beginning stages of looking I had no idea how scarce they were. Dealership had them sitting on the lot when I stopped by to look so I was able to test drive.

I’m guessing the dealership you are referring to is Longo? I had called them back when I wanted to get a second opinion regarding the status of availability. That’s when I found out how long their waiting list was and how scarce these cars are. They told me they stopped taking deposits because they already had something like 600 people on the waiting list. They joked and said buy the car and sell it for a quick profit!
