As auto makers finally start ramping up production of electric vehicles I'm starting to see way more of them on the road in the Pacific Northwest. It's not longer just new Teslas rolling around with an occasional Kia or Hyundai. Now I'm starting to see Rivians and VWs fairly regularly. So grateful the transition is finally starting to get significant!

How about you? Please let us know what region you live in and what kinds of electric vehicles you're seeing in past month or two?

Tesla's are very popular here in Colorado...I often see a few out in the parking lot at work. Driving around, I see more Prius (Priis?) than any other Hybrid/EV vehicle here...even some VERY old ones, which is encouraging. I see one Chevy Volt sometimes, too, parked at work.
A co-worker ordered a Chevy Bolt to replace her old beater car but, so far, hasn't even got a confirmation from Chevy that it was accepted...she put the order, and paid a deposit, in November.

Spotted in the last few weeks within a mile or so from home. I can't tell the model year of many of them, but the wife and I play a game of spotting the newest license plate. I've seen all of the makes/models below with new or temporary plates in the last few weeks.

    Lucid
    Toyota BZ4X
    RAV4 Prime
    Prius Prime (2022)
    All of the Tesla models
    Bolts of both types.
    Rivian Pickup
    Polestar sedan(s)
    Volvo recharge (???)
    Jaguar I-PACE
    Porsche Taycan

I'm sure that there are more. 20 years ago it was a rarity. Now it's odd to pull up to an intersection without having an electrified car in sight.

    One Rivian PU
    One EV Bronco
    One or two Audi E-trons
Several EV Kia's, don't know models
Some EV Hyundai's, don't know the models
New Electrify America charging station at local department store tends to have VW EV's, they must have some sort of contract.
A few BMW i3's (includes mine )
One BMW i8 on the BMW lot.
    Many Tesla's
Hard to tell on many cars, sometimes I think it's an EV until seeing a tail pipe.

I've seen a couple (or maybe it was the same one) Rivians. I have a friend looking at a Rivian too. Also a few Chevy Bolts.

If radiactive material can be called "fuel" then I think we can call just about anything that stores energy that can be released as heat or mechanical energy a "fuel."

a synonym is not a definition of a word but a list of words in groups/related concepts:

Teslas once in a while, but rarely any others, at least not that I recognize. A couple I know, both retired physicians, recently bought a new Tesla, and trendy electric bikes too.

The definition and meaning of the word change by how it is used. At least US.gov thinks of electricity as an alternative fuel.

Electricity is considered an alternative fuel under the Energy Policy Act of 1992.

How can I forget, have seen many Nissan Leaf's over the years. Never liked the original style, but new models look pretty good.

I owned one of the originals.

No offense, but personally I like the original design. The newer ones just look like any other ordinary boring (to me) car.

But I'm weird. I find nearly all new vehicles drab and boring. I had hopes that the EV craze would start making some interesting vehicles, but it looks like manufacturers just want to copy age old designs. I hope Aptera makes a foothold into the car market and eventually starts making other models after they make their first one. That's a car that looks really cool to me and not a clone of everything else on the road.

It would appear that "fuel" is as fluid as (and described as accurately by my government AS)
    Gender.
    Classified.
    ESG.

For a BEV, electricity would be the 'fuel' AFAIK.

The "alternative" fuels for a BEV would be:
Diesel (tow after unplanned or mismanaged discharge)
    Gasoline/Propane/Diesel/ (emergency genset)
    Solar (home charging for 0.01%-ers
Bipedal (push after unplanned or mismanaged discharge)
    Nuclear/Coal/Natgas/Hydro (grid charge)

Most of the 'alternative fuels' are converted more or less efficiently into....fuel (electricity)

    • Air
    • R1T (US plates)
    • Mirai (New vintage California plates)
    • 2023 ID.4 (they have illuminated rear emblems... easier to spot those than the subtle bumper changes)
    • bZ4X (5 of them... obviously once they were released for delivery, they were noticeable. There were even 4 in the showroom!)
    • Nexo (same one... it's a car share vehicle so I see it around town)
    • 2023 Kona EV
    • 2023 Polestar2 (saw the new wheel design)
    • Not a new one but I saw a V60 T8 Recharged PHEV
    • Not sure how many Mach-Es but at least 3 in the last week.
    • GV60 (Adriatic Blue... quite nice)
    • i4
    • A fair number of iXes
    • Q4 e-tron
    • Not sure if it was within the last month but I did see a Tucson PHEV and a Santa Fe PHEV recently.

I agree, just about all the new EV's, save Rivian and Tesla, look like gas powered cars. I need to add the Mitsubishi MIEv to my list. It seams like these dedicated all electric looking city cars didn't catch on with consumers. I also need to remove the Bronco EV from my list. Even though it looked like an EV up close, Ford hasn't produced an electric version yet.

Past year I've seen; Rivian, Polestar, and a couple EV6 and Ioniq 5. Before that were Bolts, Leafs, all the Teslas, and a couple Taycans. At wark there is a Bolt,Model 3, and Prius Prime.

People aren't defending dissertations on here. It is a friendly chat. Thus the name.
Is the Bronco hybrid even out yet?
