Wondering what is the biggest head unit I can install on a Prius 2009. I know I can install a 7" Double DIN, but I want to install something bigger if possible. Wondering if anyone has done that. If yes, please brag with any pictures :)

That's kinda of like an artistic question... It all revolves around your fabrication skills. As someone who got started doing car stereo installs in the 80's, if you find someone who is talented enough you can install almost anything. For example I did some googling and found this. You can see a pretty big dashmounted screen on top left edge.

My personal opinion is best design is finding largest possible Android tablet with as many hardware options as possible and then hack the firmware so you can load newest version of Android after you've customized every feature and every app in every possible way.

More to the point: Let us know details of what you want and don't want and we can help more!

Yes you could spend lots of time doing this I had friends in the '80s also in the '90s and the 2000s doing this kind of work spending hundreds of hours on the system making it look similar to the system that Prius camper posted I guess if you're going to live in your car and you think you're going to spend that much time in your car which you might be doing Uber eats don't know. But to me if you have the skills to do that in the time then knock it out. But at this point in my life a 14-in screen stuffed in my dash doesn't really appeal to me like a Tesla doesn't really whiz bang me too much but I understand the desire I just leave that to the kids and what not now because you're going to spend a lot of time and a lot of effort to get this done and then what you move on to another car because the battery fails or you know the people next door got a new car or whatever. In the end it seems to turn kind of pointless but if that's fun for you by all means with fabrication skills as you see you can make anything you want happen A lot of tools involved too heat guns plastic welders stuff goes on and on

You can get a 9" unit on AliExpress that replaces the MFD::LOL:

I've looked at a bunch of these things many of them you'll lose some functions I don't even know whether the functions I would consider to be important personally but I know having a 9-in screen is not important to me at all so it's just ended pretty much there but I'm sure the features that you will lose with most of these are of not much consequence to people looking to do something like this so there you go with this all I would want is to have my stereo and to be able to control a modern nav system and have a modern near 1080p screen or something along those lines and that would be about it the rest of it's pretty moot I don't care if the thing displays trouble codes or any of that on the display completely unnecessary I have what's needed for that.

All those AliExpress head units are trash. I wouldn't touch one with a 10-foot pole.

Well then there's also that possibility too but then again that's probably most head units coming online now all the Apple play fakes and what not I like the one that just plugs into the cigarette lighter has a gooseneck like thing on it and has an output if you absolutely want to go with the cord and the rest is all cordless Wi-Fi Bluetooth whatever those things seem to work pretty good I don't know if they're 9-in models
