Had check engine light on and needed to replace the O2 sensor. How can I tell if I've driven the car long enough so see if it passes emissions? I have Techstream, but couldn't find anything that would tell me it's ready for emissions testing.

Is there a metric in the software that would indicate when it's been driven enough for emission testing or some other way to find out?

    Many thanks!

Here in Ca; it's 75 - 100 miles and the system will relearn all sensor data. If no more CEL you'll pass. You need to submit that question to your local smog shop - the rules in your state and county may be loser than ours.

Georgia I think it's 50 mi You can go back the same day if you put 50 miles on the car a little generally run it and I guess that's state mandated on the computer or whatever May have changed by now but I kind of doubt it.

There are several different emission monitor routines and they all have their own conditions for running. They will usually all be complete after you have driven around "a good bit", but it just doesn't boil down to anything as simple as "go so many miles and they're all complete."

What you're looking for is the Monitor Status column on the Health Check screen. In this one, you can see Engine and ECT (which is really the only system that has emission monitors to worry about) is showing "Com" (complete), so this car would be ready to go for inspection (well, if it weren't for the trouble codes it's also showing, anyway).

If you want to drill down further, say if it showed "Inc" in that column, you can click the Monitor button on the left. Then you see the individual monitors shown separately, and whether each one is complete or incomplete, and the complete ones will show pass or fail. (The top three just show "available" instead of incomplete or complete, because they run all the time.)

If you get in a situation where your inspection has to be tomorrow and some particular monitor hasn't completed yet, you can look up the "confirmation driving pattern" for that monitor in the repair manual, and then go drive like that.

They will check the status of the o2 sensor during the emission test

They probably looked at the completion and pass/fail states of the OBD monitors, and did that five months ago.
