Can anyone tell me what absolutely needs to be done at a little over 100k on my Prius c 2012? Do I need to go to the dealer; never been anywhere else and trying to save some money. Thanks.

Not much... just clean stuff and inspect stuff, change spark plugs & air filter if you want but not really needed yet... Some Prius go 300K miles with not needing anything but oil changes and maybe once or twice some basic tune up stuff.

Of course if you go to the wrong mechanic they'll try to scare you into doing $1K of unnecessary work because capitalism makes people dishonest and evil.

As in if it ain't broke... Don't fix it!

Also never go to a dealer after warranty, as they specialize in warranty repairs that maximize cost to Toyota and you don't want them doing that to you!

Check the battery fan under the left rear seat. Make certain it is clean and free of dust/hair/lint. There are youtube videos showing how to do this yourself with a vacuum cleaner and a screwdriver, takes 10 minutes. This is probably the one thing that a neighborhood mechanic won't know about that bears heavily on the future health of the car.

Apart from that you're due for tire rotation and a vehicle inspection. Any mechanic can do that. Ask your friends, family & neighbors for a recommendation . They are much cheaper than the dealer. They may not be able to do everything, but most of the service needed by a c is the same as any other car.

The inspection may reveal that you need more work, but that's how it goes with 10+ year old cars.

    Good luck!

In addition to the recommendations in all the previous posts, I would:
    1. change coolant if it has never be done before.
    2. check brakes, lubricate caliber pins, and change brake fluid if they have never be done before.
    3. change the transmission fluid if it has never be done before.

Good catch on the coolant change, that should have been done already for both engine and inverter.

On the other hand, change transmission fluid? That's not called for, and I'd never recommend it to anyone looking to save on services.

You can get a useful brake check for free from some big-brand garages like Firestone. You don't have to get any work done there, just as for the free vehicle inspection. (I think they have another one that is more detailed for $20, so be sure to say you want the free one)
