On a 2011 prius that has maybe 190k miles. The car had not been driven for a while, maybe upwards of a year, and once the 12 volt was replaced and driven, the car threw some warnings in orange. Not red. Had someone with obd 1&2 device made by bosch check codes. Reset computer. And check codes again

    there were 5 different codes

    C1310. Hybrid vehicle system malfunction
C1259. Hybrid vehicle control system regenerative malfunction
P3018 Battery block 8 becomes weak
    P0A80. Replace battery pack
    P0A7F Hybrid battery pack deterioration

In terms of repair, one of the prius mechanics said that there was one code among those that would complicate a battery repair. Ive tried to corroborate that but i dont know what to make of this specific combination of codes. Ive seen references to some on these forums. Was curious if anyone knew what to recommend if you had these 5 codes.

You're in a climate very similar to mine I'm in Central North Carolina with very similar weather In my 2013 was about 180,000 mi when I received the vehicle directly after that I had very similar codes and all of that upon inspection of my HV battery I can't post pictures I noticed all of the nuts in the bus bars under the orange and black plastics all down the sides of the battery front and back or left and right side however you want to look at it we're all frosted showing corrosion and generally looked like doo doo I did not even bother cleaning this I got a rack from the hybrid doctor for like 650 All balanced within three Delta etc etc all the buzzwords I don't know don't care and never looked back The original battery is sitting out in the corner of my carport where I have it completely disassembled and the couple of cells in the middle or leaking I have pictures and I'm looking directly at it. The first gen 3 that I bought a 2010 with a little more mileage maybe 20,000 more had the exact same problem from a similar climate Florida North Carolina battery nuts and bus bars were frosted corroded look like general hell but the rest of the car looked fun The interior and everything was clean no water leaks nothing similar codes in that 2010 did a similar process with the 2010 all of that vanished I do not play whack-a-mole with these batteries I generally give them to the guys that supply me with a balance set and sometimes they don't want them and they just wind up sitting in my carport and then they go to the trash or electronics recycling to be precise.

That's not really a weird combination: the three P codes mean what they mean, and the two C codes mean you have the other ones.

I get all the codes are in the same wheelhouse so they may not be weird, but one of the prius battery people i spoke to said “P0A7F might not clear after fixing the cells due to isolation faults
We only know when we open and visually check it for acid leaks ,,,”

that being said, im curious tom what exact solution you used. You said you got a rack from the hybrid doctor for like 650 All balanced within three Delta etc etc. im curious what exactly this means because there are hybrid businesses throwing several tiered solutions at me with varying degrees of expense as well as longevity. Tom you seem to have used a solution that worked well and being in a similar situation, was hoping you could elaborate a little more for me.

be very careful of rebuilt batteries. there are a lot of scammers, and even the best can be problematical

Is that what tombuk2 was referring to in his answer?

P0A7F hasn't got anything to do with isolation faults. They might have it mixed up with P0AA6.

P0A7F is just about internal resistance in the modules or excessive capacity difference between modules—just a couple additional measurements of module deterioration, very similar to the next consecutive code, P0A80.

I personally meant the owner of the hybrid doctor up there in Virginia right outside of DC He has a nice little shop a nice business is not looking to cause anybody any trouble balancing to within three Delta and all that nonsense is electrical talk that these guys anybody in the business doing this kind of work can try to explain to you what exactly all that means I guess it's a good number to be looking for or something along those lines with these machines that they use to do this stuff there was a quite a bit of machinery in this guy's shop charging things and what have you lots of it big stuff costly matter of fact while I was visiting the shop one of the guys was in Las Vegas at the electric car shower or whatever it is out there. I'm very happy with what I got from him and I believe I paid $65,675 racked up in the Toyota racks with bus bars nuts and wiring ready to set in my case. It's been working very well in the Gen 3 that the battery rack is in and we've been extremely happy The guy isn't about any funny business and if you live near him I saw him deal with one or two comebacks while I was there and actually when they looked at the car and made some adjustments everything seemed to be fine cars weren't throwing codes or doing whatever and they had apps like the doctor Prius app and other apps so that they know they're looking at what their customers are looking at too along with the big fancy chargers and stuff inside the shop.
