If it is black, you should apply this ASAP. Also apply it to the glass, plastic, and rubber.

I'll take a look. For the inevitable scratches I assume? I need a solution for hard water too, the water here is so hard splashing people gives them a concussion, and the sprinklers soak my parking "spot."

I took some photos since it's nicer out.

    Typical drive home:

I was swapping out the license plate covers. Behind the rear license plate, little easter egg:

Behind the front license plate. Note the whole plate module comes off if you live in a state that doesn't require it.

Trunk with all weather covers. I like that they cover the seat backs. Ignore the wood, it served as the covers in the old C.
    IMG_0506.JPEG

Buttons control the power lift gate. One to close it, the other closes and locks it.
    IMG_0508.JPEG

Digital rear view mirror. Surprisingly hard to photo without just ended up with an ugly picture of me. Bonus turtles, illegal in NY.
    IMG_0509.JPEG

Passenger side mat, to show how they fill the foot well.
    IMG_0510.JPEG

Dash under normal use. A little cluttered IMO. The icons under the speedometer change with the lane assist and cruise enabled.
    IMG_0511.JPEG

Pano cam. Helps me not wreck the curb.
    IMG_0512.JPEG

I tried to get a picture of the blue in the paint, but didn't have much luck. You can also see the mud flap there.
    IMG_0513.JPEG

Side view. Came with the door guards, in case anyone was curious what they look like. Yes, it is already covered in salt, it snowed yesterday :(.
    IMG_0515.JPEG

There was some discussion about the rear washer for the camera. It can only hit the backup cam. Kinda silly. Yes, salt everywhere.

    Nice pics.

Turtle Wax Ice Seal'n Shine works well and lasts for many washes. You need it for darker paint, as it can show swirl marks more easily.

What's up with the holes in the rear bumper cover?

    Ha-ha! Vindication! ;)

(I predicted that the license plate mount would not be molded into the bumper itself, then was told I was reporting fake news or something.)

Also nice to see what the side moldings actually look like. I suspect the red and maybe the blue might look better with them, but the other colors will likely look better without. I have no doubt I'll have to force the dealer to remove them from the car whenever I figure out which one I'm going to end up with, since it seems like every dealer near me is sticking them on to increase markups.

If it is not required by the state, then the dealer wouldn't install it but leave it in the trunk. See the predelivery service thread.

Yes, but the conversation I'm referencing happened back in December when we didn't have any of that info yet. Apparently some or all of the preproduction media cars back in Nov/Dec had bumpers with the brackets molded in. Maybe they all had Euro-spec bumpers on them or something. It's nice to know that the NA cars at least have the option for not having an ugly blob of plastic on the front if your state doesn't require a plate(mine does, so the point is moot for me).

Front plates are a requirement for Japan, so that is likely where those bumpers are for.

How about the view out of the rear view mirror? You okay with that?

    What, the Japanese regulation?

At the release event, there were shots of the bumper sans plate. A raised flat spot where the plate would be could be seen in the front bumper cover. There are posts scattered about here lamenting it for states that don't require front plates. Those were pre-production cars, so maybe those aren't the bumpers used on production models. Maybe they were thinking a plate mount built into the bumper cover would be lighter and cheap, then someone pointed out not all markets require a front plate. Cheaper and easier to build one bumper with an optional plate mount. Imagine having to ship different bumper equipped cars to Pa and NJ, because of the plate requirements. Then maybe they are making different bumpers for different countries.

Didn't say this before to not be a debbie downer, but maybe that raised flat spot is under the plate mount.

Raised flat spot doesn't look the same proportions as North American plates?

Never seen it, that's why I asked for a picture, still haven't seen it.

I doubt they made two bumper covers. I think the shots that showed the lump molded in were mostly renderings or pre-production examples. A lot of the marketing shots just have paint matched plate mounts from what I can tell.

Probably only renderings, not real pictures. I don't think it is practical to make bumper covers with plate mounts, let alone separate bumper covers for different markets.

Both of those are heavily photoshopped. I saw one that had big ugly radius edges to the plate mount. I think it was a rendering though.

Sorry guys, but that plate bulge on the front bumper is muy ugly! If I got the 2023 Prius, I'd have a vanity plate on front, Florida only has rear plates on cars and trucks.
I'll add this....anyone who hasn't owned a Toyota before, and wants this car, would do well to read a LOT of posts here by owners of Gen 1-4 Prii, to see how Toyota has treated them, and the planet. I think my Gen 3 is my first and last Toyota.

The bump can be spotted in the videos of the very first reveal of the Prius and Prime in Japan.
