It still seems frustratingly over-spec'd but according to The Verge it'll be €25k, no USA price given but that's still useful for guessing.

    Here is an additional article

Volkswagen ID2all EV Concept First Look: A Smaller, All-Electric Golf for All (motortrend.com)

Can we dare say the EV market space is about to get very crowded in the next couple of years?

"While VW may not have any immediate plans to bring this new model to the U.S., at least so far, it is planning on launching a total of 10 new EVs by 2026, including the European ID3, the U.S. long-wheelbase ID Buzz, and the upcoming ID7 sedan, which is expected to show up uncamouflaged this spring, among seven more to come"

"While the world continues to wait with baited breath for more details on Tesla's long-promised more-affordable all-electric car, Volkswagen is moving ahead in Europe with an all-new concept car from its MEB platform, the Volkswagen ID2all hatchback that promises to offer up to 280 miles of range with a price tag around 25,000 euros, or about $26,500."

What is an European ID3? The ID3 was the first released in the line up, and in Europe.

The ID2 is going to be Polo sized on the outside. The BEV allows for more interior space. Since VW doesn't like frunks, it appears they went FWD here to allow more storage space in the back. From the MT pictures, it looks like there are thinking of a cargo bin in the back that is drops into the space between the rear wheels. The mentioned price could include Germany's 19% VAT. Practice when discussing discussing prices for Europe is to include the taxes.

Unless there is a shift back to smaller cars, I wouldn't expect this to show up in the US. We didn't get the ID3, and that's just an ID4 closer to the ground. Doesn't help in being number three of the EV markets.

The article I linked says the future ID1 gets that honor.

There is already a Golf sized ID. The current Golf is 168.7 inches long by 70.4 wide. The ID.3 is 197.8 by 71.2. It is also about 3 inches taller than the Golf.

The Verge article was likely confused by this quote from VW's CEO of Passenger Cars in the MT article, "as spacious as a Golf". With an EV platform designed for cabin space instead of a frunk, plus longer wheelbase, the ID3 has more interior space than the Golf. The ID4's EPA cabin space is 7 cu.ft. more than the Golf's. The ID3's will fall somewhere in between.

On the inside, the ID2 will approach the space of the Golf. Outside, it will be closer to the Polo. The ID1 will be the BEV sibling to the Up.

When it comes to getting small EVs here in the USA? The theme from manufacturers seems to be
    "kiss it off"

They have a three seat row SUV for sale in China, and the Buzz elsewhere.

    We missed this news.
2024 Volkswagen ID.7: What We Know So Far
It's the ID sibling to the Passat sedan and wagon.

The issue for us is that North America isn't the biggest EV market. Non-domestic car companies are going to focus on China and Europe first.
