Build it into a ‘wheel stop barrier’ with a movable, primary coil. Higher frequency to reduce magnetic coil sizes and resonate tuning outside of audible range. Built-in WiFi or Bluetooth communications to handle operational settings and recorded metrics.

Optional vehicle to 120/240 VAC outlets.

VERY optional isolation switch interface for house power.

VERY VERY optional bi-directional, vehicle to grid.

VERY VERY VERY optional, 2-5 kWh battery pack.

Or these. These won’t require tracks, just paint. Sure it’ll be difficult in snow until the pole goes through but there’s still a “driver” that can take over.

If you are building a new house, condo complex, apartment complex, office building it is expensive, why not add inductive charging. For exisiting construction this can be very expensive, so I expect low penetration without high subsidies. The main reason is standards, so that inductive charger you burry may not be what people want 5 years from now. We have iphones, qi should be able to charge them up to 7.5 watts and the apple system 15 watts. I find that on my qi system I am far short of 5 watts.

Wireless charging with cars or phones communicating wirelessly to pay or show that they deserve energy without paying makes a lot of sense. Tesla is adding phone support for non tesla cars that don't have the communications built in, to use the supercharger network. There will be less vandalism, damage from accidents, etc.

But with no real standards yet those outdoor parking lots and driveways become less viable. Garages and parking garages make more sense as removable hardware can be placed and it is better protected. For public garages I would assume you would also have cables as an option.

What is being developing isn't even all induction. That Writricity company is working with magnetic resonance charging.

He probably would have if the current administration was in power (pun intended) at that time.

As the great senator Everett McKinley Dirksen is reported to have said, "A billion here, a Billion there and pretty soon you're talking real money"

I met him in Miami at a restaurant just after his retirement.

Tesla would likely be called a commie today. He wanted to give the power away. Investors pulled out on learning that.

Forgive me for not keeping up with the changing terminology. This is inductive coupled charging, but I see now that that inductive charging is used for very close objects. Resonance is inductive coupled charging that works at longer distances.

I just recalled the term from when Toyota was working with Witricity, and that it was different from the wireless charging most people are familiar with. One group was even working with spinning magnets to turn another magnet attached to a generator on a car; like a magnetic stir plate in a lab. Without an universal standard, these systems will only show up in niche uses, and right now it sounds like every different group is working on their own standard.
