talked to 2 of the 3 dealers I have $500 deposits down for 2023 limited! Still, crickets!! None of them can give me much of an answer why they haven’t gotten many cars both have each gotten only 2 each same old song and dance! supply shortage, shipping problems and a new one I haven’t heard was Toyotas are such good cars that everybody wants one and that’s why there is such a big back up! Ha I’ve had my name on these dealer list since end of October? Going on 6 months.. one dealer said he just delivered one to a lady that had ordered a Prius over a year ago ! Get one by mid summer I doubt it! I called one dealer out of state he said 10 to 14 months another one said up to 2 years! What’s really going on at Toyota?

Did they just get 2 for Limited trim or for all trims? Maybe they keep the allocation for folks that are willing to pay markup so you keep falling behind in the list. I don't know.

Supposedly they Have no control over their allocation. I am told? I told them I’ll take XLE or limited trim but prefer limited! I’m set on the color! so I guess I’ll just get some new wax for my old car!

yeah thats true, they get randomly allocated. Only thing they have control is the port installed accessories. I maintained an excel sheet and called in bunch of places to get my Prius. I noticed the dealerships which were close to large cities (NYC/NJ/Boston) have hefty markups but dealerships in smaller cities do not.

Can’t even find a picture of it! Traded it in for a 2019 RAV4 hybrid XSE for my wife!

As someone who has been waiting 12 months, I’m not at all surprised to hear this.

The more flexible you are on trim/color, the shorter it your wait will be unless you get really lucky and get the exact color/trim combo you want… I didn’t, but the trim was satisfactory so I took it. I could have tried waiting for the color I wanted, but I decided I’m not risking another 6+ months of waiting. Lol. Now I’m just waiting for the dang thing to be released from quality control at the port.

I got lucky and found one in Brainerd that matched what I wanted(I live west of Fergus). I happened to search Toyota.com a day after the dealership was allocated it and grabbed it quick. They currently have a blue Limited AWD on their website if that's what you're looking for. It doesn't have a reserved tag on it yet, but neither does mine(the red Limited AWD right next to it) and I've supposedly had it reserved for a couple weeks.

Brainerd wants MSRP and a $500 fully refundable deposit. Might be a bit of a drive if you live up near the border, but it's better than nothing. The blue one might be in QC hold as the VIN doesn't show up on Toyota Tracker. It has the Limited Premium Package, all-weather floor liners, rear bumper applique, body side moldings, and the non-bumper paint protection film. $39,608 + $125 doc fee + sales tax.

I’ve called a few dealers in Wisconsin! I am in the northern metro for Rogers/Dayton area! I’ll give them a call in the morning see if it’s still available! When is yours expected to come in? the only thing I’m not crazy about is the bodyside moldings everything else I really don’t mind! I do want the integrated dash cam also! Paint film must just hood and mirrors? or limited is a few bucks more but I figured that heated ventilated seats and the power hatch and 12 inch display. and this car is loaded with just about everything you can get. anybody particular you dealt with? big thanks hammersmith

Heh, you're actually a half hour closer to Brainerd than I am. They told me anywhere from very late May to June or even July. Initial allocation was April 3.

I'm going to ask if they can not install the body side moldings on mine. I'm not sure if I want them or not, and it's easy enough to install them myself if I find the side of the car too plain.

I'm going to do the dashcam as well, but I figure I'll order and install it myself and save around $150.

Paint film on that one is hood, fenders, mirror backs, and door cups(whatever those are). I just don't understand the logic of building a car with that paint film package and not also adding the bumper film. But Toyota's going to Toyota, I guess.

I've been dealing with Damon, but that's just because he was the sales rep that responded to my email to the dealership. I have no previous relationship with him, and I've never even been to Brainerd/Baxter before. lol

In January I was #2 on the waiting list, now over 3 months later I'm next in line, that's how slow the cars are trickling in here in the northeast

The door cups are the area behind the door handle. On my 5-year-old Prius, I notice the area is covered with light scratches. As I never use the physical door key, I assume this is from contact with my fingernails.

Ahh. I had always heard them described as door handle protectors, but that makes sense.

Do you wear rings? I always assumed those scratches came from jewelry. If fingernails are enough to do it, I might have to look at protecting that area.

My experience has been that fingernails ARE enough to damage paint.

Might be a worthwhile purchase, particularly looking at the rear door handles (and yes, I realize those won't be used as frequently).

And consider the demographics in your household. Wear and tear on stuff like that (paint) has decreased since my kids matured.

Those clear film appliques have pros and cons. I finally peeled the factory installed ones on our '10 (at rear/bottom corners of rear doors), since the edges were starting to look grungy, maybe starting to promote corrosion. Took gentle work with a heat gun, then polished the areas.

If the car hasn’t reached the port and still in the vessel, you may be able to request through the salesmen to remove the port installed accessories.

Gen 4 Prius Prime (at least the later models) comes from the factory with paint-protection film on the front bumper, rear bumper, door cups, and mirrors at no cost. I am expecting that this is the same in Gen 5. Therefore, any port-installed paint-protection film becomes a second layer on top of the original factory paint-protection film.
