Bought '23 LE 2 weeks ago with 15 miles on it.
Here I am at 1100 miles and my multimedia system crashed. It shuts off and boots back up for 20 seconds and shuts off again. This is continuous for the past 24 hours.
I have an appointment with the dealer in 2 days.
I have tried everything to get it to work including talking with Toyota tech support who eventually just referred me to the dealer.
After searching I see this has been a known issue in other Toyotas throughout the years.
    I have Android Galaxy 8+
There are no software updates available for my phone or for the media player.
I am so disappointed with my first new car purchase. Anyone have any good news for me?

What are you using? Android auto and Carplay are extremely flakey over bluetooth. Via cable connection they seem to work ok. I've also had very little issue with bluetooth streaming.

Wireless CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto uses Wi-Fi to stream everything including audio to your car’s infotainment display. I believe Bluetooth is only used for the initial connection.

Bluetooth is most likely only used for initial connection and handsfree functionality.
So many FYIs in the row :-D

I haven't had it totally brick on me, but it's certainly not the most reliable piece of tech I own.

Carplay crashes constantly on wireless, I had to go buy a cable which feels kinda antiquated in this day and age.

I have an issue where the system keeps logging out and requiring a PIN, in the middle of driving, locking me out of using any functions including navigation. It's apparently due to some session timeout feature, but it should really hold off until the start of a new drive.

This doesn't sound like a connection issue with the entire unit rebooting.

I tried Android Auto the first couple of days and decided it was more trouble than its worth. So, I started connecting just through bluetooth and charging not using the media port ( or whatever its called)

Hmmm.. I don't know what CarPlay is but connecting only using bluetooth worked for almost two weeks.
I do not use the navigation or the free trial for Wi-Fi.. I have used the remote start through the app.

That's how mine started. I'll post a video. It said (Paraphrasing) ---
Your session has expired ..to protect your privacy we have deactivated your pin number due to inactivity. Please try to sign in again.

But the screen shut down after about 20 seconds so I can't use it.
I finally hurried and got it to start a factory reset (learning where the buttons were and beating the 20 seconds to get there) it stopped saying anything about the pin but still just boots and shuts down.
I'll post some videos and pics jic it helps you or someone later.
Also, I'll let you know what the dealership says Friday.

Have you tried or been able to try this(found on a Rav4 forum):

I've thought about this so many times. I feel like it needs a hard reboot, but I'm going to wait out the dealership and see what they say.
I really don't want to have to "Lemon Law" these people, but I literally saved up money to pay cash for this car. I don't think its too much to ask that it works.

Thank you! I have tried a bunch of times. This is about the only thing that comes up when I Google my issue in every way I can think of. Other than some old Tacoma forums that I got disheartened reading. That's how I ended up finding this forum. I appreciate the thought!

But it does not work. Holding that button will get you back to a screen that has the Toyota emblem -- enough to make you think it's doing something, but loops back around to the same thing in the 20 seconds. I asked tech support if there was a way to just disconnect the multimedia altogether or just turn it off until I get to the dealership and he had no solutions.

Also, trying to sign into guest-- IF I can get there within the 20s it acts like it's going to work but then just shuts down again.

I wasn't having luck trying to download the videos for you guys because file size, yadda, yadda.
25 minutes later ---- I can't post the link to the videos because I am only 1 day old in the eyes on the Prius Forum. I will try again tomorrow.
I hope this is allowed. The videos aren't great but it gives you the gist of it.
Note: The repeated pictures were just to show that it was happening every minute. I was trying to capture something to show the dealership. (At this point, silly me thought it was a temporary thing. Currently, I am on about 52 hours of constantly rebooting every 20 seconds.)

As you can see, it still had my profile coming up with the "your session is expired" warning-- but after awhile, (whether it was my doing or not, I don't know) both of those went away and it would just boot up with the warning and let me switch to radio (sometimes) before shutting down after the 20 second mark.

I figured you had already tried it, but it was worth a shot. The biggest problem right now is that the current infotainment system is so new that we don't have a wealth of people out there that have had to troubleshoot it yet.

Other stuff that you may have already seen...
(not for the same problem as yours, but other types of loops)

Some have found that logging out of the Toyota app on their phone, changing their pin and password, then logging back in and reconnecting to the car worked.

A similar fix was to log out of the Toyota app, uninstall it from their phone, clear the Android Auto app cache, force AA to forget the car network, then start from scratch.

Maybe try not having your phone anywhere near your car(or power it down) to see if it changes the infotainment behavior at all.

Also try creating a brand new Toyota.com account and see if you can get the car to connect to that(you've probably tried this one already).

I've gotten the session expiration popup a few times. It seemed like it popped up like 3 times in a row around two weeks ago but I haven't seen it since.I think they were having issues since I was getting "server busy" when trying to search navigation, and the app wasn't working either.

Overall I'm unimpressed with the cloud services. Anyone know if it will use a phone connection for navigation? I seriously doubt that I'm renewing it when the time comes. The other connected services are vastly overrated.

Like I said before regular Bluetooth streaming has been pretty flawless with my old note20, and now pixel7.
