I can not seem to find an aux in jack, is there one? I thought I saw mention of it in the manual but I realize that there's often generic script for some parts.

No aux input. Toyota's assumption is that you will use your phone for any secondary input.

I seriously doubt the following will work, but you could give it a try. There are USB c to 3.5mm headphone jack adapters because a fair number of phones deleted the 3.5mm jack. It's a long shot, but maybe the multimedia unit can recognize audio signals played through one in "reverse". I have a couple lying around from an old phone, so I'll give one a try when my car gets here in a week or two.

(side note: The Japanese market actually has an option for an HDMI port in the console box. Can't image why a Prius would need an HDMI port.)

I’m sorry maybe I’m missing something but I’m trying to understand why you would need this?

CD players are pretty much dead across the board. I don't think any Toyotas have them anymore. There might be a couple models out there from different manufacturers that haven't been updated to that builder's current multimedia system yet. It's a dead technology(for cars).

Mostly so I don't have to sync my friend's phone with my car for them to play music.

Ah ok got it. Didn’t think about that lol.

Lmao not dead in a brand spanking new 2023 Lexus IS. But that’s because they didn’t really update the interior when they refreshed it.

    Okay, almost dead. lol

As far as I can tell, no Toyotas still have a CD player, while 3 Lexus models still do(IS, GX, RC).

(The current IS generation dates back to 2013 with updates in 2016 and 2020. The GX is being replaced next year. The RC dates to 2015.)

I’ll be hunting down a portable CD player soon. I use my 2009 CD player every day! Old school audio books and Taylor Swift CDs.

I'd probably just rip them to MP3 and play them back on a USB stick in the car. Less wear and tear on the CD that way.

All you need is a computer with an internal cd/dvd/blu-ray player or a USB one. On Windows you can use either iTunes or Windows Media Player to rip your CDs and on a Mac you would use iTunes. USB DVD drives are in the neighbourhood of $20-$30.

Macs have not had internal CD or DVD drives in ages. If your old computer has a working drive and iTunes also works, you should do the upload there before you get rid of the Mac. Otherwise, you could use an external CD drive to upload when using a current Mac.

Yes, I have a 2009 MacBook Pro but it’s barely alive and drive is broken. I guess anyone who listens to audiobooks these days uses audible etc. I’ll figure something out. Thanks

For an external drive these are reputable. I've narrowed the search down to USB C drives for compatiblity with the new MacBooks (Mom loves her M1 MacBook Air)
    External Blu-ray Drives & Burners | External Optical Drives | B&H

Most of the drives listed in the following link use USB2.0 and you would either need a USB A to C adapter or a dock/hub that supports USB C. They will work fine with your current 2009 MBP but will take both USB ports as it uses one for power and the other for data and power.

An auxiliary input jack, often referred to as an "aux-in jack," is a common feature found in many audio devices, such as car stereos, portable speakers, and home audio systems

Ironically the CD player and Aux-in port both work in my 2013 Avalon, but the Bluetooth and USB port do not.

It seems every device I've every tried to use with Bluetooth it did not work correctly. Hopefully they've fixed that on newer models, but I'm not at all inticed to buy a new car without an Aux-in port.

I've had zero issues with the bluetooth or USB in my prius prime.
