Thank you - yes the cheap cat is pretty much useless. I know it does nothing really emissions wise. My hope was as useless as it is, it probably wouldn’t clog up, so I appreciate that reinforcement.

Let’s see what people think about those C error codes and which battery they pertain to. It might be worth doing the upstream o2 sensor if the HV battery isn’t completely kaput.

You could be one of the hundreds of over fill posts we constantly see on the G2 forums especially if its a jiffy or quickie lube. There oil capacity reference book incorrectly lists the G2 oil level at 5 quarts. The G2 engine take 4 quarts with an empty filter. Then they usually over fill it a little to boot. Like the dealer does.

Its easy to diagnose just check the dipstick level.

Speaking of oil level have you ever run the engine so low on engine oil it threw a check engine light?

And "I got it to drive back on EV" is usually a death sentence for an old hybrid battery. Car was not designed to do that its not a EV car. It seriously depletes the battery it gets very hot and that's when fun chemical things happen to the cells.

Many a poster on this site has cooked there hybrid battery limping home after running out of gas. Killing the battery. Back in 2007 the only hybrid battery charger available to charge back up the hybrid battery had to come from japan. A 225 volt charger plus installation of the special charging cable. $$$$$$$. Good times for alot of idiots.

I wouldn’t be shocked if it was overfilled, but I’ve since had the oil changed elsewhere a couple times and the issue has not gone away. Dipstick level looked fine then and does now as well.

There was a period where I believe I was hitting low oil pressure. On big bumps or turns the red triangle would flicker and I’d hear the warning beep. I learned quickly that was likely due to low oil pressure at that time, and saw sure enough I was low on oil then. Car was running sloppy before that occurrence though.

When I say I got the car to drive home on EV, I mean I left my driveway and the engine died maybe 1000 feet from my home. It was on a slow 25 mph road for 1000 feet back that I used EV mode. It was a flat road too. I don’t believe that would strain it very much at all as that’s pretty normal operation for a prius battery.
