    Nope. Just twice.
Neither was really bad because I believed the real health care experts and got all of the vaccines.
I now hear that there is a new version nearing completion which will do a better job with the current vairent(s).

In the mean time, I guess I need to go back to being a bit more careful about where I go and what I do.

It PISSES ME OFF that current infection statistics are hard to come by in many places.

    Follow the $$

    Three time champion myself.
All very very mild cases, probably owing in part to where I live (the deep South) and the fact that I sometimes knock down 20,000 steps in near triple heat and humidity, and the US government.
Intense sweating and >15,000 steps during the day sometimes caused me nighttime leg cramps, and since my beloved government now controls the active ingredient that used to be present in the OTC remedy for that malady, I switched over to cinchona bark.
    Coincidence?

    I don't care!
I can count on one hand the number of 0300 lightning strikes to my legs since 2020.
If you've ever suffered from them, you'd lick an electric fence if that would help ameliorate the symptoms.

I still get the flu shot every year, but I stopped after two courses of the mRNA vax which under the current norms makes me a 'vax denier.'
    Still,
I'll let the early adopters work out the bugs.

If anyone reading this is over 60, GET THE SHINGLES and PNEUMONIA vaxes!!!
Pneumonia is still an efficient though under-rated life-taker in this nation and from what I can gather, Shingles can make you wish you were dead!!

After getting pneumonia on my mid-50s, I wish I could have had one of the vaccines for it earlier. While the basic illness was only a couple weeks, the recovery period wiped out my bicycling plans for the entire summer.

I did finagle the first pneumonia vaccination from my HMO a few years later, but am still not yet old enough to get the second as a covered ("free") preventative. Though considering the opportunity cost of the things I couldn't do during the recovery period, it may be worthwhile to get the second even if needing to pay for it out of my own pocket, without insurance coverage.

    =============

Checking the CDC recommendations, I now see discussion of 4 different pneumococcal vaccines, not just the 2 under discussion back when I had pneumonia. Instead of just PCV13 and PPSV23 back then, now there are also PCV15 and PCV20.

Apparently the PCV20 is good enough to be a solo vaccine, but is the only one that can be solo.

People who had only PCV13 (now obsoleted?) or PCV15, also need either the PPSV23 or the PCV20. People who had only PPSV23, also need either PCV15 or PCV20.

Note also that there are significant waiting periods needed between doses of these different vaccines.

And shingles, for everyone old enough to have had chickenpox:

During SARS in 2003, bank robberies in Hong Kong did actually spike for precisely that reason.

We got the latest Omicron Bivariant shot last month. Neither the wife nor I ever caught Covid. Or the flu. Wearing a mask was worth it as it beat the Flu too.

I highly recommend the 2 Shingle shots. Shingles is the most painful thing you can get. Its like a blow torch to your skin.

Pneumonia vaxx is not supposed to be on any repeating schedule. For any given single version, over age 65, it should be once-and-done. If given before age 65, then review at 65.

The previous reason for two shots had been that they had different coverages. That appears to end with the PCV20.

I recommend this website: Peoples CDC. They are an independent group of scientists, sociologists etc who have been tracking the pandemic, and now with loss of data sharing, trying to figure out the data, the new variants and everything with what information is left out there. They have a YouTube video every week or so, hosted by founder evolutionary epidemiologist, Rob Wallace:

Yep, the bivalent we got in the fall is waning in efficacy and good idea to be careful out there. I still have not come down with COVID so far!

It seems like in our local Nextdoor.com all they talk about is cat thefts! Though there has been a police crackdown on a local bad actor metal recycling place(which was also implicated in accepting a stolen bronze statue given to San Jose by our sister city in Pune, India!)

Grr. Five years ago, some lowlife swiped the two bronze lampposts from in front of our 1926 county library and turned them in for scrap.

    Thanks.
This is what the GOVERNMENT should be doing.
    And the news media too.

But it seems that fascist morons are in control of most everything these days.
In Florida, it is a double whammy.
