Hi I live in Campbell and just got blue 2004 prius with option 9 after a year wait with CArson Toyota. I am still getting used to the Dolphin as my daughter calls it. It seems to be a technological marvel...
I look forward to interacting with you and learning more about Prius from your experiences and mine.
thanks for creating this forum for bay area prius owners!

    Hi all!

I got my '05 Driftwood Pearl #6 ("Radar") from Fremont Toyota 2 weeks ago Sunday and I'm loving it. On my third tank of gas (second fill up) and saw a nice increase in overall MPG with this tank, from averages near 46MPG in the first 900+ miles (2 tanks) I'm at 52.2 on this tank!

Radar needs a bath -- has anyone taken their Prius to the car wash at Laurence Expy and Duane (near AMD, just S of the 101?) that's where I always took my Sebring...

Hey Peter, and welcome. I've never taken my car to a car wash yet. Maybe there are a few here who coud help you out with your question.

Congrats on the good gas mileage. I'm jelious. I do speed though. 43mpg and nothing lower is good for me though. I used to get 16 in my old car and this car pollutes a lot less than my old car. I feel good driving it.

Have fun, i'll see you on the road.

I'm a new member today......We took ours to a car wash last month and had to have the attendant show us how to put it into neutral so it could go through the line. Kind of embarrassing but we got through it.

Welcome to the group. You're invited to attend our meet on sunday the 19th.

I'm suprised the attendant knew how to put the car into neutral. But... the prius is getting pretty popular in this area.

How did you hear about priuschat? i didn't leave a card on your windows did i? lol

    Hi everyone,
I joined this group because I didn't see a Monterey group...I am not sure I want to set up the group down here but there are Prii everywhere so it may be coming to a time when a Monterey group is warranted. Out of curiosity, how many people in the SF group are in the Monterey Bay Area?
    Cheers!
    Michael

I was thinking of making sub forums. Montery is a bit far south though. You could always start a Monterey if you wish. My idea of sub forums would be for each individual city. I see a lot of prius in san jose.. and each city could talk about local events and such. Or we could all come together as a region. I also think it would be cool to come together as a state 1 time out of the year.

    How I found Priuschat

I was a member of the Prius Yahoo group and kept seeing mention of Priuschat.com so I decided to check it out and here I am. I looked around in it and found this local group. I think that eventually we may need to split up into cities or counties. There are 3 in just my somewhat small gated community. I don't think I'll be able to make the get together on the 19th. Hopefully the next one will work out.

    Hi everyone,

I've been reading all articles in PriusChat since I got my salsa red 05 Prius at the end of the Thanksgiving weenend. Finally, I could find a way to join this local group. I've learned a lot from the PriusChat. Thank you all.

Currently, I mostly commute between Fremont and Belmont for work (18 miles one way). I'm also carpooling with 3 other co-workers (1 week of every 4 weeks). I hate to do so with my Prius because I really enjoy sitting in and listening to my favorite classical music instead of chatting with them. Without the JBL system, the sound is still great, plus the quite engine. Also other people may not be as careful to my Prius. Just only because of environment care and the toll fee,...

Besides, I like to go errand for my family on weekends. The overall MPG is about 52 for about 600 miles so far.

Anyway, it seems that I have missed a Prius meet on 12/19. I deeply hope to join the next meet. I also keep thinking about my vanity plate that I'll use when the registration is due next time. Appreciate any idea if you have one.

See you all on the road as well as in the forum.

    Welcome to the group :)

You seem to be getting pretty good gas mileage. I just broke the 50mpg barrier on my tank today with 509 miles on the tank.

I'll be looking forward to meeting you this spring/summer when we hold our next meet. The turn out should be pretty good.

Hey all, I just joined :) Bought my Prius 15 days ago.

I'm way over near sacramento, but my sister and grandmother live in Concord and Pleasant Hill respectively, so I'm sure I could go down for a visit and swing by to any gatherings.

    Welcome to the group :)

that's cool. there is a post i just added to. i'm thinking of holding a meeting on the 15th or 22nd of next month.

You have many years of happy prius ownership ahead of you :) hope you can join our meeting. i get a feeling it's only going to be a few. a lot of people don't seem to be reading our group post.

Zero Point Energy conversion of a Bay Area plug-in Prius

    Hello,

I'm a newbie and do not yet have a Prius. We have a small firm, Magnetic Power Inc., in Sebastopol, that in a few months expects to be looking for a plug-in Prius to convert to Zero Point Energy, instead of needing to plug-in. We hope to complete this prototype project within a year.

See my posts on the main board headed:
Zero Point Energy ZPE -- Opening a path beyond fossil fuels.

The last phrase may not be exact, as I'm quoting the title from memory.

We are also at the first stage of designing a Concept car that will be freeway capable, and will run on ZPE alone. If all goes well, that might be an 18 month project..

Monomanical in Marin (about the Prius)

I've been smitten with Prius fever big time. Test drove one yesterday, at the Marin Toyota, and have been monomaniacal ever since. Woke up thinking about the Prius, fantasizing about making it all the way to my studio (only a few miles from my home) on battery power alone.

I was interested to learn, from a recent post, about the sound dampening upgrades that are happening to the European Prius. I also wish that they'd come out with an iPod-friendly sound system. [I am impressed by the Bluetooth module, and will have to get a Bluetooth-compatible cellphone when I finally get my Prius.]

I'd also like to know about getting tinted windows, 17" rims, and leather seats. I've got a lot to learn about how to trick out my future baby. [It'd be cool to install a Mac mini in the Prius with wireless internet so that you could have your email read to you while driving. Anyone done that?]

About me: I'm a professional photographer, a vegetarian tree hugger, a Zen-friendly philosophy grad, and now a Prius fanatic. [Or is that addict?]

we've chatted about the mac mini.. but that post was lost when priuschat crashed a couple months back.

17" rims are easy. if you are doing low profiles, then you could do 18"

A good phone from my experiance is the Motorola V551. Very good phone.

I was thinking of starting a performance/mod section in our S.F. Bay Area Group. maybe i should.

    Hello everyone.

Just wanted to say hi and thank you all for the great info I have gotten from PriusChat.

Got my Silver Prius with the works in January 2005 and enjoying every minute.

Looking forward to learning more about the Prius.

So far the only mods I've done is tinting the windows and pulling off the rim rings.

Have to check the site for connecting the iPod.
