I don't have a dog in that fight but Lordstown was 'touched' by bad luck, Joe Btfsplk. Elon said:

Prototypes are easy, production is hard. Making an electric car was not the hard part of Tesla – dozens of companies have done that. But reaching volume production with sustained positive cash flow was last achieved by an American car company, Chrysler, ~100 years ago!

Lordstown is not the only startup in trouble.

I hope Rivian manages to avoid a similar fate because their Amazon trucks really should be the new Post Office trucks. The Ford e-Transit would be another good solution for Post Office trucks.

At the Munro Open House, I got to see the EVs they tore down and noticed a pattern. Each EV had one or two really good ideas but the rest were ordinary. In contrast, the Teslas were 'clean sheet.' Not everything was class leading but everything was at least B+ or above. The Tesla critical systems were A+ which was unmatched.

GOOD NEWS: SAE Will Standardize The Tesla-Developed NACS Charging Connector

SAE International announced today that it will standardize the Tesla-developed North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging connector.

This important decision follows the switch from the SAE J1772 Combo (aka Combined Charging System - CCS1) charging standard in North America to NACS, announced by Ford, General Motors, Rivian and most recently Volvo, as well as a double-digit number of other companies (charging equipment manufacturers or networks), which we've kept track of here.

"The global engineering organization that engages nearly 200,000 engineers, technical experts and volunteers said in a press release that it will work to help with deployment of the NACS connector, an alternative to the longstanding SAE J1772 Combined Charging System (CCS) connector, after Ford, General Motors and a number of EV public-charging equipment suppliers recently indicated they intend to adopt the NACS connector design."

SAE noted, similarly to CharIn, that the NACS is not a "standard," additionally pointing out that it wasn't reached through industry consensus. Well, it seems that it will become standard after all, through market domination

What value added engineering are they bringing? I have a little concern that someone in the SAE may decide to "improve it."

They can provide safety tests as the NACS increases in voltage or amperage. It can make it easier to have third parties go through certification. It clears tesla from going through monopolistic behavior in enforcing its standard. Overall a good thing but not very important. It clears the way to slowly kill Chademo and CCS1 only chargers.
