Hoping my wife and I can figure out a way out of our Mercedes EQB250+ lease when the VinFast VF9 7 seater is released.

(Yes this is deduced from experience with the EQB these past few months, my long term past a Mercedes being my first car way back in ‘92, and accumulating 4 MB gassers and 1 diesel (my first car,) before adding the EQB).

    Maybe in 2027.
"It also trumpeted a "technological breakthrough" that addresses durability problems in solid-state batteries and said it is developing means to mass produce those batteries, targeting commercialisation over 2027-2028."

Or maybe that's when it appears in a phone.

The Nio is semi solid, not all solid state. We have had solid state batteries in cars for awhile - the problem with those gen I (or gen 0) batteries is they needed to be hot to work properly.

    https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1098904_solid-state-batteries-already-powering-electric-cars-bluecars-in-fact

I am expecting the nio battery pack to be very expensive, but it gives them a lot of R&D information. Toyota will be getting R&D information from the solid state they will soon put in some hybrids (I'm expecting small production).

I am thinking the price drop for solid state that can operate well at automotive temperatures won't happen for a decade. Its a good thing Nio and Toyota will be building vehicles with current technology until that happens.

I’m not interested in Chinese cars. I hope the government sticks to their guns and requires more U.S. manufacturing
