I have an LE and it does have TJA.

    Maybe I'm misunderstanding something.

The car will essentially drive its self if I allow it and adhear to some simple attention.

    From Toyota

I believe it also requires a subscription (after the 3-year free trial). It basically does the acceleration, braking and steering. Compare to DRCC which only does the acceleration and braking and LTA which does the steering but within the lane (lane centering) but requires hands on the wheels.

    TJA is a hands-free system.

Ohh, sheesh. So TJA doesn't require hands on the wheel every 30 or so seconds? Wild

    I definitely didn't realize that.

Exactly - but then it needs your eyes on the road (thats what the sensor next to the steering wheel is for). Im honestly not sure if thats actually more annoying compared to the "hands on wheel" check. When im bored in traffic (especially with a passenger) I might start to look around.

We will see in a few months what drivers say about it after having some experience with it.

The others have already described what TJA is. What you're talking about is Lane Tracing Assist(LTA). There's also Lane Departure Warning w/ Steering Assist.

LDW: Applies to most speeds and situations. Gives a moderate jerk of the steering wheel to bring the car back into the lane if it starts to drift across a line. Temporarily turned off if turn signal is activated first.

LTA: Operates when cruise control is on. Gives small steering inputs to keep car in center of lane. Requires driver to move steering wheel every 15 seconds or so or it gives a warning and eventually shuts off.

TJA: Only on the Prime. Operates at speeds under 25mph. Totally hands off but requires eyes to be on the road almost constantly. Maintains distance from the car ahead and keeps the car in the center of lane. Automatically deactivates(after giving a warning) if the car accelerates past 25mph(approx.) or the car in front accelerates quickly enough and moves beyond a certain range.

    Interesting. Thanks for the clarity.

So as far as I have experienced it, the LE acts exactly like TJA when both adaptive cruise control and lane assist are enabled at the same time. And just requires hand in wheel every 30 seconds or so. Sans the camera eye pay attentioner tech.

That's been my experience on the LE side.

Those that have both cars care to comment of differences beyond semantics and the camera eye thingy, in real world experience?

Whoops, adding that regardless of speed almost identical in description based on my experience of the two like options, LE requiring a coupling of the two in order to achieve.

Does adaptive cruise control work all the way down to a stop or does it kick off at some point? I don't live in an area with traffic jams to test.

In my experience, the car will stay in lane, curve with any freeway as it twists and turns, regardless of traffic speed. Slow and stop as traffic does.

Just pick a lane that is not the exit or entrance on freeway, hands on wheel etc

Great question, it goes to smooth stop and (rare occurncr seemingly, based on traffic) and then a tap or slight push in gas to get it to continue once traffic moves.
Since TJA sounds like it doesn't require the user to tap gas once traffic moves past 0 mph.

    This tech is wild.
    Definitely a giant difference

I think the normal AAC (actually FRAAC)just needs a push when the car stops longer than a few seconds.

Press the upper left hand button on the steering wheel to show the multi-information display (if it's not already showing to the left of the speedometer). Scroll down and select the vehicle information icon, scroll left or right until the screen showing the pressure of each tire is displayed.

Does anybody know how to get the Drive Connect subscribe pitch from popping up every time you start the car?

Yes, it's annoying. Hopefully, it goes away when I don't subscribe.

I never got a trial subscription. This is the Nav subscription. It's been hounding me since day 1.

I don't have nav in mine as I use Apple carplay. Mine gives me a pop-up for the wi fi.

Not "every time" achieved by leaving Apple Maps running when I shut off the car, but occasionally I have to push the icon to connect CarPlay.

IIRC you are a "droid" but should work the same, no?

I love this feature! And one of my tires is 38 while the rest are 41...
