nah, bob wilson said to wait on tesla to see if there's another price drop end of third quarter.
i like the bolt, but you can't get a test drive, and like prime, you have to put your name on one.
everything else is too expensive for my taste.

i took the pip up to my mechanic. he test drove it and couldn't hear the rumbling and stumbling. i couldn't believe it, but when i drove home, it was much more subtle.
there are no codes and he said he didn't want to throw parts at it, which could get expensive. i appreciated that, and he said he would look at the egr pipe if i wanted to, but warned me of the cost.
i'll see how it goes, and if it gets bad again, that will be the next step.

tbh, i love this car, 85% of my driving is ev, and there's nothing else wrong with it.
otoh, idk how much i'm willing to put into it, or if there will ever be another opportunity for an $11,000.
tax credit, which isn't too shabby.

idk if that's true. like every carmaker, they have had issues, and i'm concerned about their service centers. but a lot of the issues are overblown hype by stock shorters, and a lot are old and have been fixed.
my neighbor has two teslas with no issues after a couple years, and the paint and panel gaps look normal to me. of course, i didn't take a micrometer to them. :p

What's the miles miles, what the odometer reads? That said, you're probably right, discounting the EV-only portion. Anyway, if you want to DIY any part of the EGR inspect/clean process, that pipe between the EGR valve and intake manifold is really quite easy. You do need to remove the air box for access; this video covers all of that.

86k on the odo, <30k on the engine. it's not the complication of it, he's a good mech and has done head gasket on gen 3. but the hours involved at todays high rates can still be pretty expensive.
i don't mind paying if the rumbling comes back, because even if i trade it, they're going to discount heavily with an engine sounding like that.
i'm hoping it was bad gas, but i doubt it.

The Prius is a complicated car, as compared to the Tesla. No catalytic converter to be stolen, no blown head gaskets, etc. and so on. Plus, I have solar power so charge for free. I do have concerns with charging on long drives/vacations and lack of a local dealership that can get service at. For 99% of my driving, a long range Model 3 or Y would meet my needs.

Agree... Had a M3 SR+ and traded it. Long post here on why I ditched my M3.

2023 Prius xle order. Did I get lucky or am I getting yanked around? | PriusChat

Fit and finish was not great but more importantly, the SR / SR+ (base versions) should only be purchased by someone who only drives in the City..

I do not miss my M3 SR+ and the range anxiety that came with it one bit. I'd never buy another again. Very happy with my Prius Prime XSE.

    That’s what I heard.

Neighborhood man, sort of known him awhile, has a 2018 model 3. He hasn’t had any problems. Since I have been charging my Prime 12 volt like every three days to keep it more fully charged, I asked him about his 12 volt. He seemed surprised. He knows it has one. He had just left it three weeks unused. No problem and he never trickle charges it or thinks about it. Parks it outside in the sun, looks so new.
I saw a video where someone had the 12 volt replaced, they sent out a tech from Tesla to the car, and the cost was $110. Not sure when it was.
My personal complaint is with the largest shareholder. No deal, anyway I have a car now with low miles.

Maybe wait for the new Tesla 3 refresh. It's due! The Bolt will be back after all with a new design as reported by GM!

i thought an EV was a good idea until i rented a couple and tried driving a few hours in them and learned what range anxiety is. nothing quite like being on the highway @ 11:30pm and the charge being only 10% with a few dozen miles to go... watch as that power creeps away when all you want is your bed!

this is ultimately how i came to this plug-in hybrid. it's so much more relaxing.

also, it's amazing how agile this small car is not being weighed down by a gigantic battery like some EV's. They can play with the center of gravity in a tesla, but you can still tell there is a gigantic heavy battery in the bottom.

For people excited about autopilot or fsd it definately makes sense to wait as the current set of hw will probably never get something close to level 3 and it seems Tesla finally realized that. As for driving assistance systems, I personally think the current specs are inferior too for certain use cases (compared to e.g. TSS 3.0 and more traditional systems) but most people probably wont notice despite some phantom braking here and there. What some people notice, especially those that dont care too much about all that, are missing USS.

unfortunately, the fed credit may not be available for it, but who knows? i'm hoping they will discount a bit more on the old one when the new one comes out. i don't really need any of the nanny toys that don't always work, just an ev for local driving. if my gen 3 engine wasn't misfiring, i wouldn't even be in the market.

Tesla’s secret team to suppress thousands of driving range complaints

“About a decade ago, Tesla rigged the dashboard readouts in its electric cars to provide “rosy” projections of how far owners can drive before needing to recharge, a source told Reuters. The automaker last year became so inundated with driving-range complaints that it created a special team to cancel owners’ service appointments.“

Toyota’s had their “thumb on the scale” with the mpg display. Apparently playing it straight with gen 5, finally?
