the article said because of interest rates. but now i'm not sure if the article said applications were down, or qualifications

The articles I've read indicate that up to 30% of auto loan applications are declined/denied.

Just got a call from my dealer that my blue Prius Prime SE will start being built in Japan July 26 and
will be in California ~ early Sept. I only put a deposit on it less than a month ago. Price is 2000 over on MRSP which
is considerably less than the 5k-10K over MRSP in my area.

And here it is! My new 2023 LE, I like how the wind chill pearl color looks white from a distance but almost silver up close. Really pops in the sun. Paid a modest $1500 over MSRP, was waitlisted for 6 months

Got a great local dealer and decided to pull the trigger on an incoming SE in Guardian Grey that luckily wasn't spoken for already when I saw it on their website last week.
MSRP of $30,300 and got $423 off, probably for being a good customer (15 Toyotas from them in last 10 yrs). Lucky in South Carolina with a $500 cap on taxes so total with tax/tag/title out the door is $30,900. I am happy with the price point but was trying to stay under self imposed $30k budget.....

    We have twins. :)

Windchill Pearl was like my 4th choice when I first started trying to lock one down. Thank goodness it was "forced" on me. It truly is spectacularly multidimensional.

Light Grey interior.....It's due 8/8-8/15. I'll take pics when it arrives as it is hard to find many good pics of the light grey cloth of the LE.

This video has some good footage of the light grey LE interior.

We are in California on the coast halfway between SF and LA. We saw big dealer markups in Southern California and even bigger dealer markups in the Bay Area. We ended up driving to Perry Toyota In Bishop and paying MSRP for a Prime CSE. It was a long day but the Owen’s Valley was stunning and the dealership was a breath of fresh air!

This brings back memories of 2006 when dealers were charging $2500 -$3000 over MSRP for a 2006 Prius in the LA/OC/San Bernardino counties.

At that time, the carpool sticker was really hot and the dealers were using it for marketing the Prius.

In addition, there was also a Fed and State rebates that the dealers wanted to split with the buyers by charging more for the car.

I called at least over 40 dealers and all of them were charging over MSRP. I decided to expand my list to include San Diego county and sure enough when I finally called this dealership in Chula Vista near the Mexican border, I was able to purchase our first 2006 Prius at MSRP!

I had to drive over100 miles away but it was well worth the trip and I saved at least $2500.

Just so you guys dont feel too bad for paying over MSRP - In europe I ordered my prime full spec a few % below MSRP and I have to pay incl tax/destination ~53k € (~58k $). We get overall a better package but its certainly not worth such a huge difference.
And I have to wait until 2024.

I bought it in germany but prices are similar with outliers like denmark (>70k €) due to different regulations. Its not really a waiting list but I signed a binding order for a specific configuration and get it directly from the factory. This is how its usually done here and if you want to back out you have to pay a significant part of the price (5-15%) which is not worth it.

Just bought a Prius Prime XSE Premium on Sunday. Some forced options but I liked those anyway. Mark up was $2K USD (negotiated down from $5K). Couldn’t wait for a better deal and needed a car this week.

From this recent article - "...with the RAV4 Prime and Prius Prime following closely behind at up to $6,500 cash back." Assuming 2023 PP.
I did quick check for SoCal on the Toyota website. Not seeing $6.5k back there. Any other folks see the $6.5k back in their area?
