... probably a good idea for you fellows with the Pete Buttigeig toaster oven special, having lots of bottle water on hand, a well charged cell phone, perhaps one of those old fashioned fold-out handheld fans geisha women carry:

I'm afraid the Tesla people don't have an old fashioned manual roll-down window option. It's electric windows for you. Period. That's that -

It's been 15 years since i had a car with roll-down windows, and that one had them because I got the manual regulators out of a different one and swapped them and the door trim panels.

Here we go again... Another fossil fool disinformation campaign article from PriusChat's token right wing conspiracy extremist.

Specifically westernjournal dot com does no actual journalism, they simply repackage news in ways that fan the flames of hatred and delusional fear mongering because that's the kind of ideal citizens the oligarchs want to rule over. They have a huge following on social media and if you see this website referenced you know the person you're dealing with has no grip on reality.

    upload_2023-8-7_12-11-39.png

Even the New York Time knows this and have talked about how dangerous this website is when it comes to get people ready to use violence based on lies: How a Conservative News Site Thrived on Facebook and Google - The New York Times

"The Western Journal is a news and opinion website with a story selection that always favors the right and is negative toward the left. There is the frequent use of moderately loaded language in headlines such as this: The Clinton State Department’s Major Security Breach That Everyone Is Ignoring. The Western Journal typically sources its information from credible media outlets, though story selection and wording usually spin information favorably to the right. They have also failed several fact checks. Finally, during the 2020 Presidential election, they have promoted misinformation. They also consistently promote misinformation regarding Covid-19 and vaccines. See failed fact check below." https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/western-journalism/

My 91 Miata had crank windows cause I bought the base model.
Who would buy a new car with cranks except an old crank?

You obviously don't live in a rural red state with people who only buy used American cars 'because they'd never be able to afford something new because all you communist liberals in the big city are making them poor. :)

That thread does mention the workarounds in case of the alleged 'entrapment'.

My problem is to catch new passengers before they pull the manual door opening handle, "No, just push the button on the top of the handle."

They are always amazed and enjoy opening the door with the button. Regardless, some people should never own a Tesla.

Not a token. Providing valuable insights into how others think, and where interesting thoughts come from. Please, let this continue to play out. We can learn a lot.

People used to use whale oil lamps for lighting, and cars used to have crank-starters AND crank windows.
    Motorcycles used to be kick-started.

    Progress isn't JUST for progressives.

I just bought a vehicle to replace my old-school '09 GMC truck, which I intend to give to a relative who could REALLY use a newer ride.
I tried for 2-weeks to break my three-decades-long Toyota boycott, but the SE Toyota Group tried harder, and I could not find a single 4-seat Tacoma truck within 500 miles of me for less than an eye-popping $40,000 after all of the mandatory add-ins.
    Not one.
    SO....
I went with a base model GMC which, unlike some others I looked at still could be driven normally even with a malfunctioning infotainment screen.
    It has 6 seat-belts gets >20mpg and has a 5-digit tow capacity.
No vehicle I looked at in my weeks-long adventure had crank start OR crank windows.
Not many of them (including my STOCK, base model GMC) still had key-start.

I didn't go down to the creek and beat my clothes on a rock to wash them this morning because we have those new-fangled mechanical clothes washing machine thingies.

They even get the clothes cleaner.

    Sometimes?
    Progress really IS.

Found this YouTube about the original incident:

    • Did not read Owner's Manual of his new car
    • Did not use the Owner's Manual on the Tesla App
    • Did not open a case with the Tesla App
We're headed into Fall and Winter when 12 V batteries usually fail ... locking more people in their EVs.

The guy could have spent a few minutes reading the f manual.

"Firefighter and paramedic Paul Shoemaker said there is a manual way to exit but added, 'There’s not enough knowledge about it.ʻ "

The manual way is in the manual. For some of the guys here, read the op's link. Can't expect same from everyone.

You weren't holding the rock right.

Re power windows, I don't mind them, they're spiffy and all, but they have always seemed like the solution to a problem I never noticed I had. Beating my clothes on a rock would probably get noticeably tedious, but rolling down a window had never struck me that way.

    Yeah.
I guess the 'rock' community can also open windows with their tool of choice as well as cleaning clothes with them, but I prefer modernity for most things.
I've never met one single person who would REALLY want to go back in time 50 years to the "good old days."

    For all the rest?

    RTFM. (*)

The difference between 'smart' and 'stupid' is that 'smart' has its limits.

Reaching across to the passenger side crank of the Ranger got tedious. I bet rolling down and up the driver's window for the old NJ Parkway tolls did too. And sometimes having both passenger side windows open is better than just the drivers for me.
