    Hi All,

After the dealer has reset the P0A80 code the delta SOC reads 0%, is it normal or the ECU didn't estimate it yet?

A few days ago got the P0A80, Connected the OBD & rdPrisu and found the Delta SOC 46%,
I have insurance for the battery so I took my car to the dealer, The dealer by mistake has reset the ECU and now the PID is gone. so I can't get the battery replaced without it showing :(
Now I am waiting for the P0A80 to come back...
looking at battery information I see voltage differences up to 0.2v - 1.33V.
The wired thing is that now the delta SOC reads 0% - I drove the car ~30 miles after the reset.

Does it take a long time for the ECU to learn this parameter?
How long should it take until the warning pops back up?

    Thanks,
    Michael

I would go to another dealer if the codes come back. Another way I’m thinking it to make the code to comeback is put car in neutral and full blast the AC like those who goes into car washes and pop ups the same code.

By the way, how did the battery Get insured?

Yes, I'll propably go to another dealer... The insurance policy specifically states that if the car is left in neutral the policy would not cover it.
Toyota dealers here give the option to insure the battery if the cars is less then 12 years old and the battery passes a test, insurance costs ~120$ covering 1 year of 9k miles whatever comes first.

The total odometer is 87k miles, I know the HV batteries should last longer... have no idea why this one ended it's life so early.
Is driving on hilly roads shortness battery life?

    Update:
I drove about 450 miles in 4 days and the Error popped back, now the car is at the dealers.
The strange thing is that the "delta soc" was 0% until the error popped then it showed 45%

#8 is roughly 1.25 volts lower than #1 and #14. I really don't know this stuff, but that's a massive difference.

Hello, i wanted to write down here what i am observing.
The short version. it seems the SOC gets updated every minute or so by 0.4% up or down as the case maybe. so if its 20% off. it will take some time before it equalizes.

    update to above:
the above observations is valid seemingly up to 35% SOC (this seems to be the pt where the check hybrid system message also stops showing)

    The long version:
My wifes car had a P0340 event. apparently, the PCV (not EGR, Thanks Mendel) hose at the intake popped off and intake was open to the atmosphere and had been for a couple of months ( i found out after i was diagnosing ) which led to todays event.
P0340 led to a rough engine run. the engine basically stopped working while my wife was on the fwy and ran down her hybrid battery.
When she called me and told me that the SOC was just dropping and not charging (we use the hybrid asst app to see this ) i told her to immediately park the car and turn it off before the damage becomes more permanent.
I had the car towed home where i started to diagnose it and found the main issue. check hybrid battery was the message on the screen. i
I turned on the car without stepping on the brakes and was able to check the SOC. which was at 20%.
I have the prolong charger and the harness was already on her car for maintenance so i plugged in and started charging. i charged for 3hrs. it was initially at 207v and when i stopped it to check, it was at 232v.
I turned it on again without stepping on the brakes and connected the app. Funny it was showing just 20% SOC. But then i noticed a few minutes later it was slowly going up. i observed it updating regularly and thats how i come upon the guestimate of 45 seconds by 0.4%..

edit: after fixing the Hybrid batt and engine, i later found out that the issue was a clogged cat due to it running too lean for too long.

This is a rubber hose? The EGR doesn’t have any rubber hoses. PCV does, and the gas tank fume recycling, both connect to intake manifold.

If either of those was disconnected at the intake manifold it would result in a gross vacuum leak and your engine would shut down immediately.

You didn't say that reconecting the hose fixed your problem..

oops PCV is probably right. its the hose that connects to the intake thats closest to the radiator and the other end to the white and black device which i cant recall the name.

i was in the middle of diagnosis still and just wanted to answer that question i came upon today.
i just finished diagnosis and i realized ( i hope not too late for the engine), that the problem is a clogged cat.
it just ran too lean for too long. ( at least 2 months )

i think the engine would have ran fine if the cat wasnt clogged. but that hose popped again for the 2nd time.
this is the 2nd time my wife clogged a cat ...:cry::cry::cry::cry:

i need to add more observations to that initial post.

I'm certain your wife didn't clogg the converter. (y)
But you should find out why it's happened a 2nd time???
Are you burning a LOT of oil?

Sounds like the gas tank vapour hose.

no. i did the piston rings update and it doesnt lose any oil. at least nothing perceptible.
just to clarify, the first time wasnt a prius. it was a 01 civic ex. but that car was a lemon and also the car i learned to mechanic on.
Prius has been running fine for at least 30k since the rebuild. but she lost mpg the last 2.5 tanks compared to her average.
and i been hearing it run rough the last 2 wks. i actually asked her to stop using it the day before but she said just one more day.
    alas...

ok. now you got me thinking. sorry i havent thought about it hard enough before...

the one with the big end is the PCV
the EGR goes into the intake and screwed in
the one on the end near the radiator i guess i never really thought about that one. so you are probably right.
The PCV one also did blow the first time.

Really hoping the Prius engine isnt damaged like the civic was. The civic broke the crank and a few others and i had to replace the block.
I eventually fixed and sold the civic for cheap since i rebuilt the engine 4x already. tired of fixing it over and over again. but i did learn!

btw can you confirm that the catalytic part number is 17410-37300 ? Thanks!

It's very confusing getting bits and pieces.......

Have you checked the pcv valve? Those hoses do not blow off, there's suction on them.
If you did the pistons/rings, you should be okay. You'd notice oil leaking, it would be on the pan,
    then grounds.

Sorry about that. my intent was to answer the OPs question. not talk too much about my issues.
there is no noticeable oil consumption. altho the OCC does get some oil.
yes, PCV should be under vacuum, but since the pressure has nowhere to go because of the clogged cat it comes back out thru the intake.
i will update this once i take things apart to confirm/replace.

Maybe id’ing the hose that blew off is not important; something is causing them to blow off? Typically the intake manifold has partial vacuum, highest at idle, and gets closer to atmospheric pressure at full throttle. But now, it sounds like intake manifold has higher than atmospheric pressure, to blow off a hose. Clogged Cat causing back pressure??
