I've always thought that it's stupid AH to deny illegal residents access to a driver's license, which also denies them access to insurance WHICH also means that MY insurance is more expensive.
If you're going to let people break into the country, you might as well give them a chance to earn their keep while they're here, or at the very least not cost us as much.
Give them a work permit and the math gets even more host-nation friendly.

Perhaps the number of "Help Wanted" signs will be reduced somewhat.

If we set the price of admission at 50% of that which the narcotraficantes charge, who knows?
Human trafficking (modern slavery) might be positively affected.
