I waited a mere 3 weeks for this. So looking forward to this sexy little gal.

Question for you handy people... How do you remove door trim? I hate that it breaks up the smooth flow. 20230816_183104-COLLAGE.jpg IMG_4864.jpg

    Congrats!! Looks great!

The body side mouldings? Get the dealer to do it since that’s a dealer add-on accessory. (That you probably paid for).

Thank you for killing the side moulding. Do me a favor and burn it after. It's a sacrilege doing that to this work of art.

Congrats Jeff! Great color!!!! Mine just arrived Monday night. Hope to be in it by the end of next week and one of the very first things I'll be doing will be removing the molding and debadge. Be very careful if you DIY! Need to heat (hair dryer, steamer) the molding (adhesive underneath) to remove.

I talked to them. They said they were installed at factory and cannot remove. Bummer.

That's dealership speak for "we're lazy and don't want to remove what we added"

    2023 Toyota Prius | Toyota.com

There are no bodyside mouldings in any of the press photos. Here's a photo on toyota.com's Build Your Own

    upload_2023-8-17_9-36-22.png

    It's a $275 accessory.

so yes, get them to deduct $275 and remove it for you.

Or if they insist it cannot be removed, then just deduct the $275 they charged you for it because you didn't want it.

It is not "factory installed", it's Port installed once it reaches the USA. It's a way for dealerships to make extra money with things they think customers want anyway.
The port here in the Southeast Toyota region didn't install those ugly bars and I'm grateful.

I’ll add my two cents. Definitely a port add on as others have mentioned. I get that they sort of mess with the sleek lines but at least they are more streamlined and less noticeable than the Gen 4 version. If they tell you there is a charge to remove them, maybe keep them on for a bit since you paid for them. My luck I’d remove them and the next day someone would ding me in that spot. o_O

Door moulding is the BIGGEST ding one can get IMO. :censored:

I won’t even attempt to butcher it. I’m a good diyer, but I’m sloppy. I’ll leave this job to a pro. Could be more than $120 I’d imagine. May have it debadged as well.

I TOTALLY understand! If you shop the job around, check with some of the nicer detail shops in your area. Do you have any PPF coverage yet? Check those shops/providers as well. They will definitely be more cautious/careful with the job than an average body repair shop!

I’ll leave the mud guards… But the bodyside moldings no way.. ugly! I believe they’re basically 3M, double-sided, tape a good hairdryer is all you need. That’s what I did when debadged my limited.!

I’m not going to ppf it. At least not yet. My first expense is ceramic tint all around at 35, with 0 on the windshield.

What method did you use to remove the emblems? Heat gun? Floss?

For the emblems, I used a hair dryer and a trim tool

So there are no pins on the rear hatch emblems? I want to remove the giant P R I U S badge and the XLE badge. Please confirm no pins. Thanks!
