Is it just me or does the Prius Gen 5 horn sound extremely lame? Like you have this aggressively styled car and someone cuts you off and you honk and it sounds like “eeeeeeeeeeeeeee”

They've been complaining about the horn since the G2.

I can understand why someone in the Empire State would consider this to be a significant deficiency but to be honest most people do not use their horns that often.
I just bought a truck about 2 weeks ago, and to my certain knowledge I only pressed the horn switch one time just to make sure that it worked.
In my experience (not having heard the G5) the horn probably has that 'meep meep' vibe but it IS sufficiently loud enough to do its job.

For people with anxieties about their various deficiencies, there are a plethora of aftermarket horns out there that make all of the usual claims. Wake the dead....shatter windows...shake rust off of a bumper....etc.

    Two cautions:
    1. OUR beloved Government regulates EVERYTHING!
The maximum legal decibel level for a car horn on a passenger vehicle is probably somewhere around 100-110 decibels.

    B. Lots of people make lots of claims about their horns....
If you're wanting to go aftermarket.....the vid below seems to use real-world measurements.....
    Caveat emptor.

hahaha it’s not the loudness of the horn, it’s the pitch/frequency of the horn. it just sounds so emasculated

Search FIAMM high tone and low tone horns on Amazon. I highly recommend the dual frequency horns to replace the OEM horns.

    or go for obnoxious loud

... leaving no square inch of cargo space remaining - due to the large compressed air tank & accompanying equipment

One might expect a meek sounding horn sound on a little car. But our much larger - Sprinter van stock horn too - sounds like something right out of a Roadrunner cartoon ..... meep meep

Roadrunner ..... introduced nearly 4 decades before Bevis & Butthead

i'd moved on to Ren & Stimpy by the time the 90s rolled around. Their horn sounds were nothing like the Mercedes Sprinter
    ;)

Check out the thread in Gen 5 Accessories and Mods 'Replace original Horn'. It's a simple $75 or so upgrade that takes maybe 10 minutes to install with a single 12mm wrench. All plug and play and includes wiring harness and dual trumpet Lexus horns.
