You can just buff the end of the line ahead of the fair ruler nut with Scotch-Brite pad green probably do The threads don't really seal up the mess it's the squeezing down of the fair rule on the double flare what have you that squeezes down over the hole and the bulbous end of the double flare goes into the concave donut shaped hole that you're trying to screw into.

That leads me to think that it might not be the scoring on the copper that is the problem.

I don't know, to my completely amateur eyes it looks effed up and so do the threads.

Took the assembly out and examined it closely. There was a bit of copper peeled off into the bottom of the hole. Gonna lightly buff the end of the brake line and put it all together after clearing that out and see if that fixes the problem.

After clearing the debris out, it sits better, so isn't spurting, but still won't seal. So at least I have a pretty good idea what happened.

Weren't you going to take it back? You're doing a lot of work.
I don't think you will get it to seat correctly because it's damaged.

I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer. I got excited that there might be an alternative.

The value in the work is each time I do something, I'm growing knowledge and a feel for the car, but it is a lot of extra work for sure.

I hope not. Hopefully just the one. But yeah, I had really hoped that I could get this car back on the road soon. I've resigned myself to patience now.

Have the replacement part. All the lines except the front right brake line are threading in fine. Trying to figure out why that one won't start.

I did get the nut on again, and it felt like it threaded in straight, but still spurted. Looking at the flare, it was damaged.

I was going to make a new brake line, but after I got a flare tool (tried the harbor freight one first, and it didn't make good flares, so ended up with a Titan tool that is specifically only for 3/16" brake lines and it make magnificent flares), cut the old flare off, and put a new one on (going ahead and replacing the nut as well) the way the old brake line was bent gave enough slack to be able to reconnect without stressing the system.

Fluid isn't spurting out of the master cylinder, and the brakes go hard after some pumping.

I'm excited! One more hurdle down. I have to wait until I can get someone over, which may not be for a few days, before I can try the bleed procedure again. Unless there's a magic way to do it on your own.

When I'm bleeding the stroke simulator, I don't have a lot of direction on what that looks like or what to expect. But when I open the bleeder valve, nothing is coming out. The wheels seem to be bleeding well. Anyone have any feedback on what to expect with the step of bleeding the stroke simulator?

Other than the question about the strike simulator, this process went really well with the xtool d8!

    *Stroke simulator bleed

There were a bunch of updates the device needed, but once those were done, the thing did great. I've used it for some other checks, and hope to do some key work with it soon.
