I have a 2015 Prius II and I’ve recently noticed some rattling inside of the vent that I have uploaded a picture of, and circled. I have found that the rattling only occurs when I’m driving on rough road, and if I stick my fingers in the vent the rattling stops.

I have also noticed recently, that my driver seat has a strange singular “tick” sound, when I begin decelerating, and when I begin accelerating. It also happens sometimes intermittently when I am repositioning myself in the driver seat. There is at least one other thread on this website, addressing such a “tick” however, I was not able to find a solution in that thread. I’ve looked underneath the seat, and the bolts seem to be OK where it’s fastened to the floor. Maybe it’s something with the railing? I don’t know. Can someone help me out?

When you put items on these vents you stress the plastic and then it starts making noises harmonically wind moves it vibrations in the car move it differently than it did when it was unstressed things like that I don't put anythings in the vents of any of the vehicles that I drive My wife and daughter do and they have these noises The seat I'm not sure about as they both are fully planted in the seat with no mercy to the seat.

That was my first thought as well, however, the noise is coming from the vent on the right, not on the left. The MagSafe charger, and the armorall scent pack or not rattling in the slightest.

Right they won't rattle when something's hanging on them because the weight is acting as a cantalevor what have you. I was thinking the vent on the far right that you have circled may have had something on it previously in its life whatever that hanging of whatever so in other words maybe try hanging something on it since it's already making a racket and see if the racket stops like a normal thing a charger a hold or whatever the hell those things are y'all put in there. And then that probably will answer your question because if that shuts it right up pretty good that's probably what was there that caused the flex and now makes the noise or at least that's what I would be led to believe.

Softex leather or cloth. Either way they have bands I think running underneath as supports they can get a little twangy like guitar strings sometimes I do believe but a tick not certain could be another stretch on a spring or a hog ring type of fastener which is generally used on the upholstery Make sure that your seat is clicked in securely the seat back at whatever angle you're at sometimes you can get the sides out of sync so they're not both on the same count of clicks if you will.

Well I don't know what that is I'm sure it's some fancy upholstery where they take off all the other upholstery and this stuff mounts to the foamss and the seat rails and is hog ringed on . I would have to look at their site but I believe I remember somebody talking about doing this or not doing this and letting someone else deal with it and then a post before that where somebody was doing it and ordering it and I said it should basically just slip on the pieces should be already all made the seat back the seat base or butt area all that so all you have to do is make sure your foams are correct like at the bolsters and things you may have to take another seat apart from another car to get foams out or you can try and buy foam and learn how to shape it.

So you will probably have to really get down under the seat right there where the bottom meets the back there's a cover plaque if you will that can be generally undone and you can peel that back and actually look under the seat base and see if there's anything loose that can make this ticking noise that you're talking about

    UPDATE

the vent wasn’t rattling. It was the glove boxes. Used velvet weather stripping to line all the edges. Rattling fixed!

    SEAT CLICKING

At first, I thought the clicking was coming from the reclining mechanism. The clicking noise was actually in the sliding track, or the lever for the sliding truck. Still don’t know which one, but it was one or the other.

I did not want to mess with removing the seat at first, but I gussied up some courage.

MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS TURNED OFF. YOU DON’T WANT TO UNPLUG THE AIRBAG WITH IT TURNED ON.

I removed the reclining lever and the height lever, apply at some silicon, lubricant spray. I added some wire harness tape to the metal lever where it makes contact with the slider springs. I applied silicone, lubricant, up-and-down, both sides of the slider, put everything back together, and now I cannot hear any ticking in the seat when I drive. Super happy about it.
