Hybrid Battery Protection Idea - your thoughts please

Don’t have to do anything, this new battery will most likely outlast the other parts of your car, so you should just leave it alone

 

If you were going to do something like that you're going to keep the heat in the battery more it'll radiate outwards and away from the battery just do the sheet metal but once you put that blanket on it where is it going to go You're depending upon just the fan only to suck out ambient temperature plus heat of the battery correct? And like others have said these batteries make about 10 years of good use that's probably going to outlast the car unless you're me.

 

i guess i would measure the temp inside the battery and out, to determine which way you want the heat to flow.
are you using window shades?

 

And the winter time I don't really run the heat so it's getting pretty cold air circulated around the battery when the fans on If I thought it would make a big bunch of difference I could rig up a larger CFM fan pretty easily 12 volt and all that but the regular unit is clean seems to do a fine job in the summertime I keep the air in the cabin ice cold so the air that's getting sucked to the battery is quite cool and in the winter time I really don't run the heat unless it is near zero or just to clear the windows and then down to low vent towards the floor I'm in the southeast United States so seeing freezing temps is not often.

 

nc and la are probably fairly similar climates too, although i have read that gen 3 batteries are less robust than gen 2?

 

Some guy with a popular referral code tried this already with micro fans that moves 4 cfm, no luck. At least you have a larger fan, still won’t draw any air from the intake end. You’re better off with reflectix window cut out with a flat stock up the middle.

 

I still have the mod in place but not being used at the moment.

Im planning on connecting it to the solar roof panel from the solar controller usb.

That way I will not have to charge any power bank or mess with it anymore.

As for the fans, they are not causing any restrictions while not being used.

Was planning on reconnecting it back when I connect the solar controller again.

Been testing out the lithium v2 and watching temps as is before I connect the fan mod again.

Hope the OP keeps this updated with his testing.

I am also working on a A/C mod to direct the HVAC air to the intake fan to keep the temp in the sweet spot.
