There is a rear, underbody panel. Road debris can cause it to become loose and make unpleasant noises. Reattachment requires plastic push-pins and 10 mm bolts which might have been lost when the panel was damaged.

If it was speed related, very likely loose rear under body panel.

Chengdu trips have always been particular highlights...

I saw something splayed and grilled there that resembled a rabbit. Mammalia is very diverse though, so one cannot be entirely certain.

    ==
Chengdu hotpots are common. In one, we were seated at the table under the electric fly killer appliance. When they can no longer fly, they fall, so I called for relocation.

Trying to bring us back to roots of disgruntlement here. 190 meters of floss - bah!

I hate seeing people ripped off. There's a YouTube video of a mechanic opening up a 3-year old Honda engine....SLUDGE and gunk everywhere in there.

The customer bought a Honda that had been leased and, of course, the owner didn't do any oil changes....the engine was ruined. (And I bet they paid a pretty penny to buy it.)

Pre-buying inspection, folks, by a good mechanic, it's not optional these days.....

    Adhesive stickers on plums.

Won't come off without pulling the skin with them.

I found that they could be removed by drawing my finger flat across them, rather than deliberately trying to get a fingernail between the sticker and the fruit skin. The label just sort of rolls off the fruit and onto my fingertip.

Actually learned it on tomatoes, but we grow more of those than we buy.

...once my daughter discovered plums I was given many opportunities to refine my technique.

When did these stickers become a thing, 20 years back, 30? I see on bananas they're also advertising on the stickers, stuff like newly released Disney movies, for one.

Not sure when. I wish they didn't need to tag every item.

On the other hand i don't like when they charge me the sweet onion price for a yellow onion.

I tend to buy most produce from a farmer's market. Not always locally grown, but they get the stuff from far enough up the distribution chain that the goods don't have individual PLU stickers.

But, being a farmer's market I can only shop there certain days of the week.

I have this plum here with two, count 'em, two stickers, both impervious to that technique.

Surely you don't mean press hard enough to mash the plum?

No. I don't apply much pressure. I swear I discovered it by accident, and it only works for me about 4/5 tries. I mostly swipe my thumb or finger across the sticker about 45° off the long axis (they are usually oblong) and somehow the edge gets swept up and stuck to my thumb, which allows the rest of it to peel right off.

Is "plums" not used as slang in America in the same way as Britain and Australia?

Adhesive stickers on my plums would be infuriating. And painful.

No, here it's an innocent fruit that grows on duddy little trees.

While we are at it, I always did appreciate how the term 'fanny pack' could stun an Australian, (think bumbag, mate) ...while an American would recognize it as a small bit of body worn luggage, and a Scot might think of it as a cargo sporran.

    Apparently not.

In the majority of the world where not all words need be slang for masturbation or something else about sex, plums are just an orchard fruit. The European plums on a tree in our yard are ripening right now.

Whenever I am reminded of that conversation, I feel a surge of British patriotism.
