I bought a used 2011 Prius from the local Toyota dealer 2 1/2 years ago. Just yesterday I was in heavy traffic on a super hot day and tried to accelerate when suddenly I lost power and my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. My vehicle then went into limp mode and drove it home. Next day I hooked up to my scanner and it showed the following codes: POA7A, P0A94. I noticed my coolant levels were under the mark so I topped them off and reset codes. Now I just get code P0A94. Tested 12v battery with multimeter and got 12.42. My vehicle is no longer under warranty and everything is pointing to the inverter. The EOE update was done before I purchase the vehicle so getting it swapped out by Toyota is out of the question. I guess my question is what other issues can cause a P0A94 code other than the inverter? Should I change the inverter pump before I spend the big bucks on the inverter? All your help is greatly appreciated.

With the car in ready mode, check the inverter coolant tank for turbulence and/or feel the hose for flow. If so, the pump is good.

Just checked the coolant tank in ready mode and there appears to be no movement at all. Clamped on the hose with my fingertips and cant feel any flow. Looks like the pump might need a changing.

The inverter is actually still under Warranty Enhancement ZE3 for 15 years and unlimited miles. Toyota will swap out the busted IPM.

Friend of mine's Prius recently shown code P0A94, and it was the IPM need replaced.
Although dealership said the recall was over but fortunately they did goodwill replacement for him...
