Just wanted to share in case someone else comes across same problem. I drove my 2007 Prius to store and when I came out the car powered on but it would not go into Drive or Reverse. I got on this forum and everything pointed to the 12V battery. The Hybrid battery is in great condition and the 12 Volt was replaced in April. I went ahead and tried to charge the 12 v battery anyways and nothing changed. I removed the 12V and took it to autozone for testing and the battery was good. So i reinstalled the battery. Then I went back and tried to start the car again. It powered on and the warning lights came on. Then I noticed one quick flash of the maintenance light. I figured I would check the fluids. I ended up putting one quart of oil and the car started right away and went into gear. The maintenance light did not stay on constantly, it just flashed once. Just something else to put in your toolkit should you exhaust all your other options.

The maintenance light is not related to your problem. Those warning lights point to specific error codes that point to very specific problems that can be read by an OBD2 reader via a phone app, or a Mini-VCI cable and Toyota Techstream Software via an old Windows computer. Most auto parts stores will read your error codes for you too...

What you described is equivalent to saying "I realized I was bleeding, but didn't look at my body for where the blood was coming from and just took some pain killers and a nap instead and I'm all good now so I'm not concerned about where the wound is because pain killers fixed it"

    Hello and welcome to PriusChat!

So, on a Gen2 Prius (2004-2009), the maintenance light is just a mileage based reminder to tell the driver to service the car (oil change, check fluids & tires, etc).

If you had/have warning lights and symptoms, then you should find out what codes are in which ecu. It is very likely that the problem will reoccur.

Low oil pressure (often the result of very low oil level) can trigger a "master caution" light (red triangle), but that won't cause any functional problems - beyond internal engine damage.

Many scantools (including most used by parts stores) are not capable of communicating with the 14-16 ecu's present on a Gen2.

Here is a thread that reviews several apps and devices. Some of these can scan all systems on a Gen2.

FYI, your first 5 posts are moderated & can take some time before they appear on the forum.
