    Hi!

I just replaced the brake actuator on my 2008 prius, and now i'm having some weird issues. I haven't bleed the brakes yet, thats the next step.

The car isn't detecting either of my keys unless I put them in the slot under the push to start (I have brand new batteries in both). The car also beeps whenever I have the drivers door open, and I am unable to lock or unlock the car with the key fob or from the buttons on the door.

When I turn on the car with the key fob in the slot, it turns on like normal (with the brake lights on as I haven't bleed the system/hooked up a techstream yet).

Any ideas what I could have messed up? Thank you!

These symptoms mean your car thinks you have a key fob inside the car / in the plug in slot. FOBs often can hide between the seats and center console... Or maybe you have a smashed FOB and your RFID reader fell out inside the slot? Or maybe you have 3 fobs if the other two FOBs are accounted for and still intact?

It's hard to imagine that damaged wires or something unplugged would cause these symptoms, but if you've excluded all the other options, let us know and will get to work on helping you figure it out.

Thanks for responding! I only have two FOBs, and they are both intact and not in the car, so I don't think it could be that.

I should have put this in my original post, but it does try to lock the doors, it makes a kinda weird noise that's close to the door locking sound, but it just doesn't quite sound right/end up locking, it also makes the beeping noise when you unlock it, but it's a lot quieter/slower sounding than normal. This happens with the buttons on the key fob, or when I press the button on the door. So it seems like the car recognizes the key FOB, since it responds to the buttons on it, but it won't turn on unless I insert the key FOB into the slot.

You're getting one beep or a continuous beat because the brake system has no pressure and it's warning you along with lights including the red brake light that comes on when you depress the parking brake is continuously on with the three ambers in the center ABS traction control and the! Should all be lit up If you step on the brake it probably goes to the floor It does not want you to try to ready the car and/or put your foot on the brake until someone that knows what's happening deals with the system because it is not ready. I do believe that's what's happening. I have a car that I just replaced the actuator on bled the system down done all the stuff the steering angle sensor or something won't program indicating that the actuator that I put on the car is bad which is possible and now if I put my foot on the brake for a long time in the system bleeds down a little bit that beep comes on and will stay on until the pump pumps up the accumulator gets to some pressure turns that beep off it just takes a second or two. I've even bled this bad actuator there's no air anywhere in the system but there's also not good pressure so this continuous beep comes on as soon as pressure bleeds down I don't think your fobs have anything to do with it although I don't have mine generally at the car when I'm doing this because usually most things in the car plugged up the voltage and everything is good and as long as the remote's away the car is not going to try to wake up and do anything. Or I pull the 12 volt sometimes if I don't want it carry the remote 20 ft away and set it down because I'll forget where I put it.

I will try to bleed/refill all the brake fluid when I get a chance, it's possible the car is mad about that. But it sounds like the beeps you're getting are different. My prius is only beeping when I open the driver's door with the car turned off, and its multiple beeps, like when it's in reverse. It stops as soon as I close the door, or if I put the key in the slot. It doesn't beep when the car is on, it just has the three brake lights. It also continuously flashes the red "no key detected" button unless I put the key in the slot.

Basically it's behaving as if the car is on, and I've opened the door while driving or somehting. However I'm 99% sure the car is completely off, as far as I can tell it's not in accessory mode or anything. It's also having the weird problem with locking/unlocking the door.

Count the beeps one of my cars when it's coding and has me looking for more information I get in the car I try to ready the car stepping on the brake pushing the power button and all the dash lights up but the car beeps five times and does not ready I can do this all day long it'll be five times and will not ready this particular code I have I use a generic scanner and clear the codes that aren't there twice seriously and then boot the car and off we go yeah I know. This is not a rare situation either to be honest about it I have like five of these cars or something like that yeah so many that I forget

This sounds like something you fix by disconnecting the 12v and rebooting the system... Of course get all the brake work done before dealing with that.
