Yes, you have to by paracetamol instead. ;)

The greatest difference is the spelling.

A bulk Costco bottle with the American spelling is very inexpensive, but if you are needing an excuse to travel to Europe, I guess claiming that you need paracetamol instead, is as good an excuse as any.

    https://freakonomics.com/2011/05/why-cant-you-buy-a-big-bottle-of-headache-pills-in-england/

No pain, please, we're British | CNN

"Just as powerful opioids are tightly restricted in the United Kingdom, so are painkillers to which most Americans don’t give a second thought. While you can walk into virtually any U.S. drugstore and pick up a bottle of ibuprofen or acetaminophen with 400 or 500 tablets, the largest size on UK shelves contains just 16 pills. If you consult a pharmacist and he or she approves, you can purchase 32 pills.

“We have to protect the patient,” says Howard Silver, a pharmacist at Gateway Chemist in London, who notes that even a moderate overdose of Tylenol can cause liver damage and even death. Shown a typical 400-count bottle of acetaminophen from a U.S. drugstore, Silver shook his head with dismay.

“I’m astonished,” he says. “That’s a bottle of death.”"

From other articles, I was given the impression that the UK puts these drugs into small quantity blister packs in part to reduce their use for suicides. Americans favor other methods of suicide (even before fentanyl became widely available), so don't need similar restrictions on these particular drugs.

Costco had Pfizer so I got it today plus the RSV shot. Getting shingles shot snd pneumonia shot next week. People waiting, one said she thought the shingles shot had a pretty bad reaction for her. So casting doubt just by someone talking a story does work, as I decided to wait. Pharmacist can’t give advice but said she had no side effects. Feel sleepy after the covid shot, sort of relaxed, kind of like the effects. Maybe I get hooked on it. Maybe it was the RSV mellowed me out. .

Not yet. We've had every booster jab so far so 5 total shots? something like that.
We have December airline trip, and we hear the shot benefit may not last too long.
So we are waiting a bit for the optimum timing.
Also as a casual older runner I understand there is at least a short term impact on performance.
But we have not had COVID yet in our hosuehold.

The shingles vaccine is well known for being more painful or producing worse reactions than others, for a large portion of recipients. My first was definitely more painful than other vaccinations, with a sore arm for several day. The second was a non-event, though I went on a significant bike ride immediately after receiving it, and arm exercise is known to reduce reactions. But the spouse, older and receiving it earlier, had a somewhat miserable response to her second.

But these reactions are nothing like the misery of actual shingles, which many people of our birth era will get if they remain unvaccinated. Hopefully, Americans born after 1995 (Japanese and Koreans after 1988) won't need to worry about shingles, unless their parents were anti-vaxxers.

The one gentleman mentioned the side effects for Tylenol for some perspective. That was I think eye opening.
Many items have risks associated with them higher than vaccinations...I would suggest looking at the side effects of excess sugar added to the processed food we eat and its effect on the heart, arteries and our bodies as another example.

    WELL....
If we're going to veer the car that far off the road, what about HFCS?

    Hubs locked.

How about the over/under on the release date for the next Swift breakup song?

Hummmm, COVID vaccination side effects ... funny how similar they are to procrastination.

Lots of sugar in processed American foods. Very easy to notice when I've been working overseas, I come back and everything (that we didn't make ourselves) tastes like dessert.

We try to stick to less-processed foods overall. We never buy packaged sliced sandwich bread, it's all just soaked in sugar or corn syrup.

That doesn't mean you'll never find hot dogs in our fridge; everything in moderation.

@bisco the pharmacist warned me that the second shot would be worse.

My covid shot arm is doing better today, seems about the same as the previous shots. Still can't reach the top shelf.

My arm was a little sore as I got the vaccine yesterday but don't know if it is from the vaccine or the Pharmacy Tech whose technique was to jab/insert the needle administer the shot and pull out. I bet it didn't take her 3 seconds to do the whole thing, I thought to myself that was the roughest administered shot I've ever had - but the arm pain is already receded to almost being unnoticeable. Very nice Pharmacy Tech, personable, talkative just rough technique when administering shots.

Ain't that the truth? I've been to around 20 other countries in my Air Force flying days and it shocks me how unhealthy a lot of our food is here in America. Portion sizes are ridiculous, processed EVERYTHING, and even our drink sizes are ginormous...it's no wonder we are one of the fattest countries on the planet.

It's just sad and, now, they are trying to push morbid obesity as the new healthy and beautiful. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there is nothing healthy about being morbidly obese.
