So I've been on a Prius Prime waiting list since August, with the bright prospect of another year and a half to go. Low and behold, today I get a spam-type email from Toyota, titled "Which electrified vehicle suits your lifestyle?" The body of the message had topics such as Discover Toyota Electrified (yeah, where is it?); Find the Powertrain that Fits Your Lifestyle (found it, but can't have it); Be Confident in Your Electrified Vehicle (how, if I can't even test-drive one?).

You couldn't make this stuff up. Unfortunately, it's coming from an email address that is a "no-reply" otherwise I would have given them a few things that are on my mind right now. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar... And what's the point in hyping up a product that you can't give to the market in enough quantities?

For some perspective, note how others have been hyping non-existent vehicles for years... like Cybertruck and Equinox EV. It's been that way for decades.

At least with the long wait lists, there's a guage for demand. Supply will eventually catch up. The twist is we're in an unsettled market. There is no clear objective yet.

Owning a bZ4X provides me with an acute awareness of how some BEV supporters don't actually see efficiency as a top priority. For example, some see a benefit from consuming energy simply for the sake of charging faster... which is a direct contradiction to what Toyota chose to deliver.

It's how that uncertainty of product comes about. What do you favor and why? There are tradeoffs between PHEV and BEV. Hybrids have a valued role during this transition too. Hype can help reveal some answers

There is a difference between "we have a new model coming out" and "come on in to buy" a model not in supply.

I heard that exact same spiel on a radio commercial.
    Toyota marketing have outpaced production,
They’ve joined the ranks of the big three

Interestingly i've been getting emails from Toyota the last couple days.

And as you say, far as I know there are no (or few) cars to be had.

Yup. Got the same marketing e-mail.

Would be nice if you actually had inventory of the most popular electrified vehicles. Where are the RAV4 and Prius Primes? Sienna? Anything with a battery is a year's wait.
