Well yeah possibly - seems like that would just require adjustment / regulating individual modules' voltages.

Prime traction pack banks are numbered (probably due to wiring constraints within the pack). So switching bank numbers around to balance the 5 will take more effort than it used to with NiMH packs.
It might be similar in the PiP. We'll learn more as Jack new pack get run through it paces.

I would be interested in this next gen battery pack at some time in its future. My 2012 plug in has 80.000 miles on it and is down to about 8-9 miles range now. Would be interested in cost also.

Jimmy, let's be honest...EcoHitch has a massive production issue right now, that's why Eric is not selling them. Last I checked was they were like months away from being able to fulfill even current orders. I wouldn't say Prius Offroad has anything to do with the hitch issue. BTW, were you ever able to get those re-designed version 2's you were working on ready? We still have like 3 we can only install in house of your "old" ones.

@black_jmyntrn there have been other bigger battery packs developed and sold to enthusiasts in the past. A couple for the Honda Insight 20 years ago. One was called the engineer pack. Two other guys that I know of did their own packs for the ( Gen 1 - (Gen 2) 06-09 Insights ). Now there is a Lithium upgrade for the Gen 1 - 2 Insight available. Bolder Hybrid built a double pack Gen 3 Prius, gotta be at least 10 years ago.
Jacks project lithium is bringing the cost of Lithium upgrade way down, and if you like the early Insight Johns' original Linsight project is currently live.

I'm hearing in less in 2 weeks yes and I got in there and made sure all new V2 models fit perfectly and there is a new post to put the exhaust hanger rubber on to.

This is the 3D scan of my car with the new hitch lined up.

Just installed the Nexcell project lithium batteries into my 2012 Prius Plug-In (bought 09/12). I was down to 6-7 miles of range and I wanted to make the improvement. Does it make economic sense? Not really, it barely made economic sense to buy a Plug-In over a regular prius. Let's hope I have the car long enough to beat the payback curve again (I'm very optimistic about LiFePO4 and really very excited to see what it can do). Any recommendations on a fun project to do with my old packs? DIY solar and storage? Maybe a heavy solar go-kart? My rising 9th grader needs a project this summer.

That's a normal average for city driving.
That is also why you get s 25 mile EPA range while we get almost 40 miles WLTP range, and my personal best is 45 miles...

Yes but they're all trashed and when you do find one to put it back in any kind of respectable shape is going to be a major project unlike the Prius generation 2 which doesn't weigh 1800 lb but will still go extreme mileage 4 to 600,000 really easily Not sure I can really say that for the insight but that 2000 model all aluminum with the S2000 semi interior was quite cute but they just didn't hold up like most Honda interiors they had the look but not the durability and that was unfortunate that's by the time you take care of the seats and the steering wheel and the buttons and all of that sort of thing if it's even possible you would be at a substantial cost the aftermarket doesn't have you covered.
