With Johnson & Johnson being mRNA free, it seemed like there was Much Ado About Nothing .... as that at least is/was an alternative

Wasn't the J&J vaccine the one with the most serious issues?

With a quick check, yes that seems to be true.

That is why it is no longer available in the U.S. The last authorized doses expired May 7 this year.

J&J Covid-19 vaccine no longer available in the US | CNN

    Edit:
    https://www.whsv.com/2023/05/16/uva-doctor-weighs-johnson-johnson-covid-19-vaccine-no-longer-being-available-us/

"”The J&J vaccine was the least effective of the four available COVID vaccines and it caused a rare side effect of causing blood clots,” Dr. William Petri, UVA infectious disease doctor said. ...

“The only nine people ever to die from getting COVID vaccinations in the U.S. got the J&J vaccine and had blood clots,” Dr. Petri said.

Dr. Petri said it was four cases per million doses of the vaccine that created the blood clotting issue, but even with those small numbers, Dr. Petri said people put their trust in the other options.""

I.e. the J&J vaccine was still much better than no vaccine, but not as good as the other choices.

I had a mix of 6 Phyzer and Moderna Covid shots. I'm 80. I went everywhere with some caution and some masking until a painter came to the house recently with the new variant and we all go it.

Just as the anti-EV crowd makes a big deal about a battery fire ignoring the many ICE fueled fires, so the anti-VAX crowd hypes any anecdote and largely ignores the statistics and evidence of any benefit.

Isn't the correlation between deaths and VAXing levels pretty much accepted science by now? See Florida even accounting for age.

One of my college roommates had a stroke the day after his first shot. Coincidence or cause? We will probably never know. Stuff happens. Take a breath, take a chance.

You make the best decision on the best information you can find at the time.

And given the truth history on many subjects of so many in the anti-VAX crowd ...

With J&J gone from the U.S. market, at least there is another mRNA-free choice available here now: Novavax.

mRNA has been around for decades.
And NO, Dr Fauci does not belong in jail.

Not going to go down the conspiracy rabbit hole with any one on this forum either.

Snows falling, time to start skiing in a couple weeks....ta.

    How about a tool thread.
It takes very few words to cast doubt and get people to believe something untrue. I guess that’s the basis of advertising.

    OK, I'm game.

I recently added one like this to my kit.

Fluke isn't in any danger of losing business. It isn't that precise, but... for under $40 this thing is amazing. Less guesswork when troubleshooting a flaky fiber optic data link.

Search Amazon for YEDEMC or QIIRUN for same/similar.

It can be a separate thread, not tacked on, or this one nuked.

I see here in the rules of Calvinpost that it's now fair for Kris to pick some other tool thread and post about Covid shots.

My inspiration for how about a new tool thread. Because covid shots are a rabbit hole. Did I say this thread can be a tool thread, no. I said how about a tool thread, as in new. Because hundreds of pages of covid threads never amounted to anything but folks arguing on a park bench. And I see no nice mundane tool thread.
