We have a 1 year old 2023 Camry XLT hybrid. Just prior to the end of the 12 months, we tried to get my husband's android phone to use the toyota app to set up the digital key. It had worked for checking mileage and such when it was set up by the dealer, but had stopped doing that. My phone was still working on the connect features before they expired. We hadn't set mine up for digital key because I had no need for it.

Flash forward to now. My 2023 Prius Limited is due in this week with ONE fob. We will need to have my husband's phone working as a digital key (since I'm not handing the only fob to ANYONE else. We let connect expire on the Camry, but we will need the digital key until we get the second fob.

Our local salesperson (not the one I got the Prius from) told me a couple of months ago that both phones had to have the same login to work with the communication with the car. My husband is logged in as himself, I think, but it won't even recognize the car VIN when it is scanned. My sales person from whom I ordered the Prius says they will set up the phones when we pick up the car.

(finally) the question. What do we need to do to make that process as seamless as possible? We need the phone to see his Camry and my Prius and to act as a digital key on the Prius. He uninstalled the Toyota app and cleared the phone cache and reinstall the app, but it still won't recognize the Camry that it used to see.

    Any one with any suggestions?

Toyota supports the sharing of Digital Keys. See here and here.

Thank you. The instructions are clear. I should have searched Toyota. Next time.

I have a 2023 with digital key and also sharing the digital key as well. What your salesmen told is true in this case. You can share a digital key, but when you share the key to P2 (Person 2), only the digital key is shared and not any of the remote start (so no remote start, pre heat etc.. just to unlock/lock car and driving). That is why it is recommended to share the login and setup digital key. When you setup one (Person 1) digital key and then try to P2, it will say master digital key is someone else and let you download a duplicate of the master digital key.

This will ensure both phone will have digital key + remote connect since it's the same account.

Thanks. I'll keep this thread marked. I'm hoping the sales guy can set it up correctly for us. I have no idea what happened to his phone app (about 3 months ago, it just stopped working).

I dont have my Prius yet but definately have to share remote connect (login?) with my wife. How would that work with two driver profiles - e.g. for different seat positions? Or can you have to different profiles per shared login?

The ability to save seat positions (it is an add-on), and it is not linked to the app. I believe it is just on the driver door, there are buttons to select.

You can have multiple profiles on the car, but only one login on the app. Toyota lets you share digital key, but when shared the second person gets a nerfed set of controls. That is why its recommended to share login.

I was wondering if you use the app with a shared login "A" then the car will be started with the profile "A". This means it will use all profile information of profile "A" including (but not just) seat position (the buttons on the door should not be needed and/or are not working in this scenario). The other profile "B" will then just be ignored. or can you remote start with app profile "A" and easily! switch to profile "B" later?
Ideally we would like to just use two hard keys later that are connected to the two profiles - but the app part is still fuzzy in this regard.

Of course that would require having 2 hard keys. My salesman is saying the second one is going to be 6 months out.

Date of vehicle manufacture - expect key availability
    March/April - 1st half November
    May/June - 2nd half November
    July/Aug - 1st half December
    Sep/Oct - 2nd half December
    Nov/Dec/Jan - March 2024 or earlier

Make sure to have the Toyota app on your phone and keep an eye on it as your window approaches. You will first get a notification on the app that you are eligible to get your second key. You will also get a letter in the mail, but that could take an additional month or more.

As soon as you get the notification on the app, you can contact a dealer to get your key. The dealer will have to order it from Toyota, so don't expect to just show up and get it all done the same day. When the key arrives at the dealer, then you can go in and they will program it for you.

Thanks for the schedule. That sounds better than what I've read. Maybe they are catching up. My dealer called and the car is due in today and I have a tentative pickup time tomorrow afternoon.

Yeah after reading the manual (which doesnt really mentioning the digital keys) - only the hard keys give all the features inlcuding seat memory setup. While your profile can be initialized by detecting the bluetooth connection, that might be to late already to prepare the seat for you (e.g. the "easy entry" feature).

So I would assume you need ideally three profiles overall:

    1. One be shared via app (but never used via driving)
    2. Two for each driver

I guess so far its not a big deal as households in the states have much more cars per household but splurge less on features. In Europe it would not be uncommon to share a P5 with multiple people (thats why we get dual zone climate as well)

Regarding seat profiles, there are 2 buttons on the door that each load a seat profile. So, one person should set button 1 for their profile, and the other should use button 2 (2023 owners manual, page 159).

These buttons are only used if you dont use the real user profiles - and they are only for the seats. Additionally its not helpful as you want the car to e.g. already know if you use easy entry BEFORE pushing the door button.

Easy entry is when the seat goes back first (depending on user setting) so its easier to sit down - before it goes to the normal profile position.

EDIT: Here from the manual - they call it "My Settings" not "real user profile". And when its turned on, the buttons on the door dont work
