You're definitely a strange guy, Vandy. The English language is not your friend.

I didn't "go from EV traveling to...." anything. My only EV reference was to how many times one has to stop and charge them on long trips. I "went to" the words you cite from my description of the ease, convenience, and reasonable cost of driving my Prius across the country. I did compare that value to the lesser values of low gas mileage vehicles and the inconvenience of EVs to quantify and qualify the Prius value, but only to illustrate the topic of that paragraph, not change it. Maybe your language has different usage rules.

That was my point with my last sentence that you cite, as any non-troll thinking person would know: that "maybe" the government doesn't want it to be easy, convenient, and reasonably priced for citizens to go anywhere/anytime we like.

How you got the Constitution involved, IDK. How/why you make the stupid claim that we have a right to go anywhere we want, IDK. I do know why you ignore my criticism of that stupidity - it's what people with low self-esteem and no integrity do when shown their mistakes. And no, I haven't a clue what "dots" you connected to conclude that people have to ride in buses dreaming about "stories." Lower your dosage.

But, I do know, and anyone who can scroll upwards knows, that I'd never said a word to you, much less "attacked" you, when you "started" the trolling with this stupidity. And I know that this lame reply from you - like a 2nd grader saying "I know you are but what am I" over and over - says a whoooole lot about you.

SYK, if I'd said that Constitutional-right stupidity, and someone called me out on it, the first words of my response would have been: "You're right. I misspoke." That's doesn't say much about me at all that it doesn't say about anyone with integrity, but, again, it says a lot about you.

Is it better to spend three hours a day here, or do something else? Look on the sunny side, when it’s down it’s like he took our candy bars we love a little too much.

one risk in deploying a line like that is that some readers who can scroll upwards might.

You lose me, Mr. Chapman. What's the risk? Readers scrolling up will see exactly what I said they'd see - that I had never said a word to Vandy before he trolled me with that Constitutional BS, i.e. that he "started" it. You've always seemed like a sharp guy, tell me you see that truth, explain what you mean, something. This seems like a slap at me.

Sooo, I haven't noticed what the current issues are here. For a week or two, the site wouldn't even come up at any URL. Since then, it seems to work for me, but I just post once or twice and then leave. Maybe power users are seeing other problems? My quick use is just because that's all there is over in the Gen1 thread. probably rare to have more than a couple of people in the forum at any time.

Trying to buy another Gen1 next week. Been trying to get rid of these cars for a year - need my garage and driveway back for other projects - but I keep getting more. They're just so cute, and so many being thrown away. I'm like the no-kill shelter for Gen1s.

the biggest problem is the posting sometimes doesn't work visibly, but it actually does post, and people keep hitting the post reply button, and we wind up with multiple posts and threads.

and sometimes page loading is slow, or times out

I am sure AI could not make sense of the conflicting advice/opinions generally provided here.

    Strike 1

The heart of the discussion that turned into an argument.

    Strike 2

No “maybe” previously. Strike 3 just because it’s getting old.

Lots of unnecessary and degrading rhetoric and not much content.

If I were a moderator I would time out Ron first. Nothing wrong with disagreeing or offering different opinions, but there are better ways to do it.

OMG. I'm back in HS. One kid, thumb in ears, fingers wiggling - "I know you are, I know you are." Another kid standing off to the side, pointing towards me, laughing, and whispering to a group of jocks and cheerleaders that I still wet the bed. What next, TP my house? Smash eggs on my windshield? SMH. Definitely a different crowd here than the guys on my diesel truck forum.

Aah, I just read Mr. Parker's analysis and now understand his and Mr. Chapman's issue with my posts. It's not that you actually believe I was the first to say something ugly - that's patently not true - it's that we disagree about what "ugly" is, such that you see my ugliness in a much harsher light than Vandy's. I get that.

If it helps explain - much as, I'm sure, each of you have expertise and training - perhaps in working on these cars - to the extent that it's kinda irritating when someone insults your expertise and criticizes the product of your training, I have been trained and, some would say, have expertise. Certainly not the tops among my peers, but still, I've earned respect.

Unfortunately, Mr. Vandy offended all of that. Not just my expertise, but the product as well - a subjective and objective insult. That neither made sense made me react exactly how I'm trained to react.

I've been trained to use words to make fact-based, logical and persuasive arguments, to people who very well understand what constitutes a fact-based, logical and persuasive argument. I've been trained to rebut arguments. Granted, I'm old, forgetful, and pre-diagnosed dementia, and very much off my game, but I still get a rise when someone challenges my words, and can quickly grow testy when my words are distorted to base that challenge.

The simple truth is I never said, implied, or intended to insinuate anything about EVs except exactly what I said. Vandy invented those "dots" himself and imagined the story he thinks they connected to. Whether we can travel anywhere/anytime was never the "heart of the argument." There's not been an argument. He would have to defend what he's said for there to be an argument. He simply insulted me, and then doubled down on the insults while never offering any explanation for any of it despite me asking. You will never see me do that, highly insulting to those in my profession.

I get that y'all don't think that lying about what I wrote and using that lie to declare me wrong and naive about something I never even said is not that big of a deal. Integrity isn't a big deal to many people. And, I get that most people would see my response to be unfair, like the way Israel is punking Hamas. It's just the way it is in the Gaza Strip I lived in so long, and like Israel, I don't apologize. Maybe Hamas won't attack anymore and maybe Vandy won't lie about me. If that means I gotta leave here, it's fine with me. I'm not going to stay here and be lied about. Integrity does mean something to me.

If that's the case, then maybe it's worth at least one attempt to point out how your last 1200 words or so in this thread have ended up seeming so far off that game.

Mr.V noticed something odd about your post #73 that also struck me as equally odd, and no, it wasn't you insinuating anything about EVs. It was that you had written a seemingly straightforward four-sentence post about EVs, and then closed it with a fifth sentence about something else:

That sentence is where you introduced, entirely without argument, first the notion that there is some "part the government doesn't like", and further a notion of what that "part" is, as if the government is somehow invested in constraining our mobility. It may be that both of those notions are things you strongly believe, so strongly perhaps that to you it seems enough to state them without argument, as if they were axioms. But for readers who don't find those notions axiomatic, it probably would have helped for you to drop a few breadcrumbs along the path from your four sentences about EVs to your fifth sentence about the government not liking our mobility.

He did explain, though, and his explanation, while a bit more terse than my version above, was really not any less clear:

    So when you write

any reader who has just watched you distort what Mr.V wrote, and persist in your own 1200-ish words much heavier in personal insult than in reasoned argument, is bound to notice some irony and wonder just how seriously your concerns about reasoned argument, and integrity, and the "highly insulting" things we will never see you do, can be taken.

Likewise, as early as #76, you seemed to work rather hard at a nonobvious reading of Mr.V's post:

Here, you seem to be wondering what's the antecedent of 'that' in Mr.V's "we have a right to do that." But when we look:

the words that immediately antecede are the ones about connecting unrelated dots and making a story. If that wasn't clear enough, the next words following are also "Make up stuff", the second time for emphasis. It seems pretty clear that you lost Mr.V on your jump from EVs to "the government", and indeed that's what he confirmed in his next post when you asked.

So when you wrote 'To do what? Re-reading my post, I can only assume you refer to my words "us just going anywhere, anytime we like."', a reader can fairly wonder why you left out the whole sentence that really did antecede the one you're trying to figure out, and left out the words repeated right after it for emphasis, and went to make a big deal of some strange other reading that's only left when you've ignored the plain one. And that can't help seeming a bit like deliberate distortion of what another poster wrote, which juxtaposes uncomfortably with your concern for integrity and reasoned argument.
