Vdumb too. If sales fall, they’ll just reduce the price, but there isn’t much competition that gets the credit.
I was offered a standard model y for 40k the other day, 10k off msrp

What a happy coincidence, the normal, end of quarter fire sale and announcing 'prices going up after the end of this quarter.'

Dang, instead of subsidized inefficiencies, the manufacturers will have to figure out how to reduce costs by better manufacturing and domestic battery production. Oh boo hoo.

Tesla Model 3 owners often have experience being former Prius owner SMUG.

This is untrue. I know fact checking is more than most people want to do. But perhaps you could read the link you youself posted??

In addition, it is unclear if the whole credit, or just half is at risk.
To be fair, it is not a well written article.
But your statement that “The tax credit is completely going away” is not true.

You are too kind. Excellent opportunity for sarcasm. Besides, I own TSLA stock and want to see another, 4th quarter Tesla blow-out.

Oh there is definitely some marketing going on as well. This further reduces the clarity.

I'd rather see steady sales throughout the year leading to 1.8 Million vehicles than 'blow out' months making up for slightly lower months. Leading to the same 1.8M units.

Easier on the sales staff :)

"Tax credit will end for Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive and Model 3 Long Range on Dec. 31, 2023 based on current view of new IRA guidance. Take delivery by Dec. 31 for full tax credit," the company said in a notice on its website.

"Completely going away" is different than one version of one model not being eligible next year.

I recall 2018-2019 when the tax credit was about to expire and then step down in following quarters. Sales went up and up.

Which make up most of the Model 3 models by far, and they would be the only Tesla cars I would even consider. So, for me, it is completely going away for now. Perhaps it will come back in the future.

No Teslas for people who live on a budget after December.

Let's re-address this after New Years. For the next 17 days:

    SALE! SALE! SALE!

The best time to buy a Tesla is the last three weeks of each quarter when Tesla wants to 'look good' in the quarterly report. For example, I bought mine in March 26, 2019 and very happy.

These particular cars have Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries reported to be longer lasting and recommended always charge to 100%. Regular Tesla batteries use NMC chemistry that is recommended to charge ~80% for ordinary service and fewer charge cycles than LFP.

The operational characteristics and longer life of LFP may well be worth $7,500 to the frugal as this is half the cost of replacing my $15,000 NMC pack.

a true spin doctor .... only @Gokhan could take a simple fact that MANY ev manufacturers will be losing a $7,500 tax credit - & turn it into a strictly Tesla manufacture negativity. A paragon of consistency.
