Cost of maintenance

It depends on where you live. The cabin Air filter tends to smell funky after a period of time, especially in high humidity environments. It has something to do with the filter material. You can buy Aftermarket Hepa Filters which also have activated charcoal to held absorb odors. It’s what I use. I’m on my Second replacement filter in 5 years. $36 on Amazon and I install it.

$3200.00 in maintenance cost in just 4.5 years and 41K miles Yikes!!!!! We haven't even touched on the depreciation cost, since she probably paid full retail. That was before Tesla began discounting their model S.

I'm about to go over 40K and probably spent less than $500 on preventive, early filter and fluid changes. Mainly to flush out assembly and break-in debris, in the car's systems.

 

another nonsense article, and one that is hard to relate to for people participating in an online car chat who tend to do much of their own maintenance.
if i took my prius to the dealer for all recommended maintenance, it would easily reach $4,000. in 4 years and 40,000 miles.
wait til these 19" tires start wearing. it's one thing to buy the car, and another to have the dealer replace them.
i see the same problem over on the bolt forums. some people get over 40,000 miles on the oem michelins, and others don't even get 20,000. it's all about driving style.
and some go to the dealer for $1,000.+ for new tires, while others go to costco and elsewhere.

 

Depends on whether you have a woman in the car ... then change in the Spring and Fall.

I did my first change after 3.5 years because the heater/AC air flow was low.

Beware on tires, DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE. I once tore-up a tire on the highway - my bad, it was probably low and I was traveling over 80 mph. The other three probably only had a year left on them, so I opted for the cheapest, correct size replacement they had - so I could replace all 4 in a year and have a meaty spare. Wally world stated they couldn't sell me that tire because it was a T-speed rating and the rest of my tires are H-speed rated, then he recommended and tried to sell and install an inferior weight rated tire with the correct speed rating. When I pointed that out to him, he stated that the service manager stated it was OK to do that.

Bottom line, hybrids and BEV cars require a more capable weight weighted tire than standard ICE cars.
