Wondering if there is a third party software that can activate this? The car has all the hardware and its the 2023 Prime SE (Canadian Version). What is most frustrating is that I can activate it in settings and enable it in the menu options but it still doesn’t work which makes we think that its simply programming.

When I had my Audi, I could easily program driver assist settings with ODBevelen app and dongle. I did see that there is a thing called Dr. Prius but not sure how functional that is. Carista might be another option but looks like its not available for the prime yet.

    Help!

Dr, Prius and Carista won't work for that... Maybe that function only works in Eco mode or EV mode? Also is there a way you can verify the sensors are on? Or maybe just a glitch that disconnecting the 12volt for a few minutes, which resets all the systems, will fix? Or lastly, perhaps something is wrong and you have dash lights and error codes?

I went through that since I have the same car. You need to pay for the subscription to do it. In Canada, the SE isn't listed with TJA (last I checked) on Toyota's websites even though it has all the hardware. The reason is that it doesn't come with a trial of the subscription service needed for it but it does for the rest. You can also try to activate it through the Toyota Assistant in the car by just pressing the voice button, saying "activate/engage traffic jam assist", it'll take forever to process and then say you do not have the subscription for it.

In short, you're going to need a Drive Connect subscription.

There's a special place in hell for auto executives that think they can get away with charging monthly fees for "features" that make your car more comfortable and safer to drive. I hope the lawyers ruin them in huge ways on the safety onese eventually. It's almost as bad as denying the "right to repair."

And Volvo is using that backlash against greedy corruption in their marketing efforts by saying they'll never charge extra: Volvo Won't Charge Extra Fees for Basic Car Features After BMW Backlash

Oh I agree. If I could afford a Volvo I would have bought one. The more I learn about Toyota on the corporate level, the trashier my opinion gets of them.

I agree on the subscriptions. Between the sales experience (so different from the internet sales experience for my last 2 Prius's) and the subscriptions I probably am driving my last Toyota. That is assuming not EVERY manufacturer adopts this methodology.

The only reason TJA is behind a paywall is because it uses the Toyota GPS map system to allow you to use it. It's not allowed to use on every road, only on some roads based on what I've read online. So for the car to know what road you're on, it needs the gps, and the gps is tied to a concierge service that costs money ... Lol

I get services that cost money, like having access to a real person on demand in the car.

    But its dumb otherwise.

Even remote connect, I can understand a small fee to maintain the 4G Network access. Like, 20$ a year or whatever probably logical for a sim card being registered to ROBELUS here.

    But the prices are outrageous
