I'm not positive I've sussed this completely out, but there seems to be a big difference between TSS 3.0 and my 22 Prime (TSS 2.0? 2.5?). When I use the steering wheel control to select it off, it's still on. That is, it still tries to correct my lane position, based on where it "sees" the lane. This is proving to be a problem here in Canada, where the roads are white with salt, and sometimes have stripes of unremoved snow in odd places. Twice today, with DRCC off, the car tried to drive a path that actually crossed the nearly invisible double yellow line because it couldn't determine the lane. I was alert and immediately corrected, but this is concerning. It doesn't seem to matter whether I push the steering wheel button on or off, it's always on with TSS 3.0, apparently. I see I can turn off LDA in the customized menus, but does that mean I can no longer "select" it when I want it? There's something awry here. I liked it better on my 22 Prime, where it was either on or off, and I had to select that. Now, it worked more aggressively when DRCC was on, but there was no "always on" like there is with TSS 3.0. This wasn't a problem until the most recent snows, and the salt and residues have built up.
So, if I turn LDA off in the customize menu, do I lose all functionality, even when I want it? Has anyone sorted this out. The manual is not easy to discern on this.

Edit: perhaps this is LTA, not LDA, but the issue remains.

Sounds like it is the lesser lane keeping system that gives alerts and nudges when approaching a line, or what it think is a line. In the Subaru, that is just on by default, and requires going into a settings menu to turn off.

Okay, I was thinking your problem was LTA, but I read closer and realized you were correct about it being LDA. You said it was happening with DRCC off, and that's LDA(LTA only works with DRCC on).

I've noticed problems with LTA and snow/ice on the lines, but I expected that. I've been using the steering wheel button to toggle LTA depending on road conditions.

Any problems with LDA have been rare enough that I haven't felt the need to disable it yet. But you are correct that it can only be disabled through the menu system. If your roads are bad enough that you're getting repeated unwanted steering inputs from LDA, I would disable it until conditions improve or spring arrives, whichever comes first.

Regardless, disabling LDA only disables that TSS subsystem; it doesn't disable any of the other safety systems. There could be some sensitivity options with LDA that might help, but you'll have to dig into the menu and test any out to see.

LDA: Lane Departure Alert - uses a camera to watch lane lines; if you are about to cross the line, you receive a buzzer warning and a moderate-strength steering adjustment; temporarily paused when the turn signal is activated; activates at 50kph and above; enable/disable through MFD menus

LTA: Lane Tracing Assist - uses cameras to keep you centered in the lane when DRCC(cruise control) is operating; gentle steering adjustments; needs user input every 15sec or warnings sound; enable/disable toggled by steering wheel button

The button turns on/off LTA (with DRCC), not LDA. To turn on/off LDA, you need to go to the vehicle settings on the meter gauge.

Thanks replies! I think that's exactly what I'm experiencing. Until we got this latest weather, it wasn't really a problem, and today was the first time it tried to "Correct" me over the centre line. In fairness to the system, I can barely make out road markings for the salt haze.
