Unlocking all doors by touching passenger/rear door handle?

The only way I know how to unlock all the doors is by either 1) touching the driver door handle, 2) using the fob remote, or 3) opening the trunk hatch. I want to be able to walk up to my car and directly open the rear passenger doors to put something in the backseat before getting into the driver's seat. Is there a way to unlock all the doors by touching the rear door handles? This feature is available on my Lexus but haven't figured out the trick with the 2023/24 Prius. Thanks in advance.

I don't think the Prius has 5-dr SKS, does it? It's only 3-dr SKS (front doors plus hatch).

The trick I've used in the past is to lightly touch the rear hatch to unlock all doors (If I'm approaching the car from the rear). Alternatively, there should be a setting where grabbing and holding onto the driver's door for x number of seconds should also unlock all doors.

My Gen 3 behaves exactly as I think you want: touching the driver door handle unlocks only that door, but touching either the passenger door handle or the hatch unlocks everything.

I don't remember whether that was a setting I tweaked when I got it or it's just always been that way.

The default setting for the front driver's door is that gripping and letting go unlocks only the driver's door, but holding it for 2 seconds or so unlocks all doors. Also, double-tapping the unlock button on the fob unlocks all doors. You can modify these behaviors to unlock all doors via the procedure discussed in the owner's manual under the discussion of locking and unlocking doors.

There are no sensors in the rear door for unlocking them.

Just to sum up, the exact behavior you want is not possible. Your Lexus has keyless entry sensors in all door handles, while your Prius only has sensors in the front handles and the back hatch.

The closest thing you can do would be to reprogram the remote so touching either the drivers door or the passenger door unlocks all doors. Then you could unlock the rear doors by just placing your hand near one of the front door handles.

The procedure to reprogram your remote is in the manual. Just look towards the back of the "Unlocking your car" section or search for the topic on youtube.

I found a video from Japan where the guy claimed on his gen 5, the dealer enabled a "proximity unlock/lock". I put a post on here asking if anyone had access to Techstream and posted the video to see if it's even an option but didn't get any answer. I don't think Carista has updated for gen 5 either so it's still stuck on limited modifications through that.

He called it a "hidden feature". It sounds a bit too good to be true but it would be very cool if true and inline with what OP wants.

    Interesting.

I've checked, and yes, that's shown in the Japanese manual - there are 3 extra dealer-modification options under "Smart Entry & Start System" in the Customization chapter.

    降車オートロック機能 (Exit auto lock)

パワーバックドア閉作動中降車オートロック機能 (Auto-lock function when exiting the vehicle while the power back door is closed)

接近時オートアンロック機能 (Auto unlock function when approaching)

Not really a hidden feature - it is described in the main "locking" and "unlocking" section, but it is dealer activation only (or use your own Techstream). Pretty certain it isn't there in our cars - the manual is generally a fairly accurate description of what actually is in Techstream, and I'm sure I would have noticed it when browsing the settings.

(Actually, I guess I only know that it's not in our Techstream...)

Not in the USA manual either.

There is a setting in the Multimedia where you can set all the doors to open when you touch the door handle. I did it with my LE, and it works perfectly- even the hatch.

I wish there was a way to lock the hatch and all the doors from the hatch without using the keyfob......

As a woman who often drives alone, I prefer the drivers door only to unlock with the touch handle. the passenger door opens all the doors if I have a passenger, I use that one or manually open all of them from the inside button. I really don't want someone else entering the passenger door of my car when I open it at, say, Walmart.

Personal preference only. I drive a limited, so the lock from the hatch is available there. Not sure about other models.

There is. To the right of the unlock switch on the backdoor, there's a button. Touch it and all doors will lock. (See page 120 of the 2023 of the 2023 Prius Manual). This setup has been standard since the 2nd generation Prius.

The LE only has the button to open the hatch.... no other button...

Did you get a chance to check it out with Techstream? I was hoping to ask the dealer when I get my 2nd FOB but it's been 2 months and counting since I'm eligible and still haven't received it.

It would be a really cool feature to have.

LE and SE can only unlock from the driver's door handle. Other trims get access through trunk and passenger handle. I don't really know of a way to add it back but might be possible for the trunk one if someone wants to look into it.

Yes, I had another look in the European Techstream yesterday, and didn't see anything that looked like it might be it.

Did you contact your dealer about the fob? My people said that they don't order the fob until they are contacted by the car owner (had it in 2 days after the notice came out).

Yes, I started trying to call the parts department as soon as I got the phone notification to order it. I drove from Canada to the US though and they keep running into issues with ordering the FOB and unfortunately Toyota Canada sucks as a corporation so here I am waiting.
