A lot of the Tahoe folk are from the coast, the valley or rental car visitors. I've been in those mountains where I had a about a foot of snow fall while day skiing and Reno got nothing.

... and no chain controls on the way from Tahoe to Reno.

Last year it was posted that Tesla does not accumulate, release or publish any information that is not strictly required by law. Might that be why Hertz seems to be having more wrecked cars than the numbers reported by Tesla?

Except Hertz has said the increased rate of damage was with cars in the fleet for their rideshare program. It wasn't seen in their leisure fleet. For them, it has more to do with the driver and use than car model.

Whatever that post said was inaccurate if it said it did not collect data. Tesla collects a great deal of data, much more than required by law. The problem reported last year is tesla had a data breech where some of this data was stolen. There are data privacy questions about tesla, and there have been data integrity issues with data supplied to governments. Unlike vw, gm, and toyota, tesla has not been fined for covering up or actively changing information.

Hertz likely had a higher percentage of accidents than tesla's fleet because of the way it rents cars. I'm sure all hertz vehicles used for ride shares have a higher rates of accidents than the fleet of the same car in general.

Yeah, Austingreen, I worded that poorly. But we agree that "There are data privacy questions about tesla, and there have been data integrity issues with data supplied to governments."

That would tend to lead to a difference between the data collected by Hertz and the data provided by Tesla.

Watching the rear view mirror .... had a double tanker fuel truck behind us on that stretch decades ago. barely enough distance between us, tanker truck started to jack knife behind us on the icy downhill Road. .... whew! felt like I lost half of my 9 lives that day - no harm no foul.
