    Just a quick update . . .

I was incorrect about the color of the icons I saw at startup, they are yellow as others have said, not red.

Also the manual does say that they will illuminate briefly at startup and that some might say they are OFF while the car does a system check after going into Ready mode. It just takes a few seconds for the features to be turned On. So what I had noticed is just normal operation.

If any of the safety features are either malfunctioning or manually disabled the warning light will stay On while driving and will be orange.

In the list of functions that are displayed in the Gear menu on the MID the LDA and PCS are not marked as On but if I manually turn them Off then Off is displayed on the icon and the warning light stays on. Perhaps the reason why they are not normally marked as On is that they are they are On by default.

What confused me about the LDA display @4:00 is that it's white and I interpreted that as being Off. When I turned it Off in the Gear menu the icon @4:00 actually disappears. When white it is On but not functioning and when functioning it briefly turns green.

I did have one warning light stay on recently, the circle with the car symbol in it, which can indicate a variety of items. In this case it was the RCTA (rear cross traffic alert). The next time I started the car the warning was gone and the RCTA was functioning.

As for the Intuitive Parking Assist, I have had it not work on a few occasions but the manual says there will be a buzzer if there is an actual malfunction that requires a visit to the dealer. If there is just a warning light then it's "temporarily unavailable, possibly due to a sensor being dirty or covered with ice". On the occasions where mine didn't work I don't recall seeing a warning light but I maybe I just didn't notice.

So it seems I'm not having any serious issues after all but I'll be keeping an eye out.

I received several alerts yesterday - Hybrid System Malfunction, System Malfunction, Drive-Control Start Malfunction, PCS warning indicator. The alerts started while sitting in the parking lot idling. It seems to be driving ok but I just hope it stays that way until I can take it in to the dealer. My LE only has 2500 miles, it's a shame I'll be needing to take it in for service even before the first scheduled maintenance smh

That's worrisome, I hope it works out okay. At least it's early on in the warranty and should be resolved before it ends!

In some earlier posts I was questioning whether the PCS in my car was working. I noticed it for the first time today.

While driving on a 4 lane road with an additional center left turn lane. A pedestrian was crossing the road, not in a crosswalk. I was driving in the left lane at about 30 mph. He stopped and stood in the center turn lane, waiting for me to go by. I didn't take my foot off the gas since I saw that he was aware of me. The PCS sensed his presence, flashed a quick warning light, and applied some braking as I approached him. After I passed him the braking ceased.

I had a PCS failure last week in my 2020 AWDe. The display issued a major warning putting a circle around an image of my Prius. It said "Clean off the Parking assist sensors". There was a coating of ice covering every sensor around the car. I stopped and broke off the ice covering each sensor (there's a lot of them) and the problem was gone.

Hello All. Got my 2024 Prius XLE last thursday. I had the same display errors pop up today. Have an appointment tomorrow. Annoying. But old Betty (my 2016 prius is 340K miles). Needs a head gasket fix. Still makes me a believer.

Sorry to hear that! Hope it gets fixed fast. Maybe you can get a loaner/rental, if it takes a while to fix.

Mine has been at the dealer for over a week now to investigate the various system errors. I called after a couple days and they said it might be a while still. Fortunately they did give me a loaner

Glad that your dealer has a loaner service. My prius is back at the dealer - dead 12v battery due to underlying issue - and I expect it to be there indefinitely, as they don't have a battery in stock and have no ETA on when one could come in. They use a rental car service - which, due to age, I am not able to sign up for.

Very unfortunate to hear about that. My dealer has low stock so no loaners either, if anything were to go wrong. Thankfully the biggest issue I have is just a sticky seat recliner, which hopefully they can fix easily or lubricate or something.

I hope you have a solution soon Mark too.

To make it even worse, the tow truck driver who picked up my car tried jumping it, but put the leads on backwards. So maybe the whole electrical system is cooked now, too. I have so many calls to make lmao

oh man, I know I have read that the electrical is super important to be extra careful with in the hybrids. To the point where I don't think we're even supposed to boost other people with the car. And there is a special boosting terminal under the hood for positive and an identified plate for the negative in the user manual as well. Hopefully its solveable

I occasionally get the system malfunction alert, for no apparent reason. I thought originally it was related to sensors getting obscured by weather. But I got one yesterday with no weather. Dirt? Maybe.
Anyway, what I find is after a few days, a few cycles, it just goes away on its own. So I'm probably just going to live with it rather than have a dealer pull apart the car looking for a fix. Maybe this is happening enough that Toyota will figure it out? Could be a software issue that a later rev. addresses?

This is happening frequently enough that I am wondering if it is a "defect" with this new design year that Toyota will fix?
Curious to know if this is car specific, or wide problem, and what the fix is? I am assuming it is under warranty.

Reporting back on the final result from my dealer, as I finally have my car back now after a month, most of the wait being due to the replacement parts being on order from Toyota. Here is the full verbatim service summary on my 2023 LE. Perhaps someone here will find it useful:
    -----
Diagnose Check engine light, hybrid system malfunction. after 30min of driving other warnings come on.

Road tested vehicle and confirmed hybrid system warning light on. Performed health check and retrieved codes p0AA649 and p1C7E49. Cleared codes and codes returned indicating fault occurring. Performed visual inspection of engine compartment and hybrid battery. Removed rear seat for inspection. Removed service plug and began diagnostics. Performed shop manual pinpoint tests for code p1C7E49. Voltage isolation fault in transaxle area. As directed Removed hybrid inverter from vehicle to gain access to hybrid motor cable. Removed and performed pinpoint test. Test hybrid motor cable with megaohm meter. Result of test indicated concern with hybrid inverter assembly. Replaced inverter assembly and motor cable as required. Filled and bled cooling system. Performed inverter software update and initialization. Performed resolver learning process as required. Cleared all trouble codes. Road tested okay

Very satisfied that my dealer comped the loaner for the entire month, and everything covered under warranty.

Thanks for the report. My malfunction light seems to be coming on more frequently and staying on for longer. It will eventually go back off but it is getting annoying to the point that I guess I will have to bring it to the dealer. I am delaying in the hope that the dealers will get more knowledge on what the problem is, so if they have seen it before they will know the fix and it will be quicker. Could be false logic.

If its happening more often it might be worth taking to the dealer. But if its still intermittent to the point they might not see the issue after resetting the codes and driving it for 15 minutes, you'll probably end up on a treadmill waiting for diagnosis. I would still personally take it in, but I can see why you would be hesitant.

I'm hoping y'all are just super unlucky and can have it fixed quick.

I just got the “System Malfunction” warning this evening and the warning lights for the Proactive Driver Assist and the Lane Departure Alert turned from white to orange after powering up.
