It's actually a good bit of jujitsu on the part of the Donkeys.
They know that this proposal has a zero-percent chance of getting passed in either chamber but they get to blame it on their opponents knowing that most people will not bother to read the 350-some-odd pages (I haven't, yet) or wonder at the meaning of words like "encounters" "contiguous" and the significance of '45 days.'

It also lets the current administration off the hook with the whole 'funding Israel' thing that would otherwise publicly inflame their 'river to the sea' faction.
The concrete is swiftly setting on this issue but, fortunately or unfortunately, sanctuary cities are getting more and more crowded, and November is a looooooooooooooong way away.

NORMALLY more immigrants are a good thing demographically.......buuuuuuut.

 

Bottom Line:

SOME US Senators CAN read.
They KNOW for example, the meaning of the word "encounter" and "contiguous".......

It wasn't an embassy. It was a 'diplomatic compound' although I can understand how many people who are unfamiliar with these things might get them mixed up.
After all.....we did lose the Ambassador in that incident, although it was in 2012 - so it's not like he was an Ambassador to a functioning nation.

My High School History teacher was ALSO largely untalented at history since he was dual hatted as our assistant football coach - In my beloved home state of Indiana where BASKETBALL coaches are much more important.
He did sincerely try.....
He was also played as an offensive lineman in College, so we had VERY few disciplinary troubles in that class!

In the years since high school and during my career in working for uncle both in uniform and out - AND working in a union shop for the last 25 years - I have corrected some of the more serious aspects of my disadvantaged upbringing.

Meanwhile - I will seek out a book or two about the Nuremberg Trials.
I have a fairly rudimentary working knowledge of the Tokyo Trials, which lasted a bit longer and have some interesting twists.
BOTH have influenced international law and the Law of Armed Conflict - so it will be interesting to do a stare and compare.....
