Hi Everyone! I am new to owning a prius and just bought a 2012 prius 2. I already love her so much but I have noticed something odd about her. The person I bought it from said it did not have a backup camera and when I put it in reverse it does not have one, but when looking at the back of my car after purchasing it I noticed there is in fact what seems to be maybe a factory backup camera. I do not believe the car has any navigation capacity. Would it be easy or possible to connect the back up camera that is on the back of my car to work?

My friend recently bought a 2013 prius 2 and had to run wiring to the back camera area. The cars are not prewired so you'll need to run wiring back there. He also changed out the screen (not sure if it actually had one from the start), to a newer style one with Apple Car Play and reverse camera capabilities.

Just replace your rearview mirror with an HD dash cam kit... They're super advanced and inexpensive these days and many of the cameras they use are wireless. That way your 12 year old car will have the most modern gear you can buy.

Seen that wireless dash cam kit and it is really good. No hassle of running wires

yeah... Wolfbox is below $100 and they're spending huge on social media ads right now, but I bet there are better options. The market used to be in the $300 range for many different makers. So suspect something in the upper $100 range would offer best features for price.

So I was thinking about doing that because I have a pioneer carplay radio that i used with my old car that i loved, but i was thinking it might be a bad idea using that because wouldn't i lose all of the car setting controls that are available with the og prius screen? and it also seemed a bit daunting because of the prius being very electric, but maybe i am over thinking it, was it hard for your friend to do?

The unit my friend put in has all the functions you can program into it. If your car has steering wheel controls, you can program all those controls into the unit. It'll be almost factory. Youtube has a bunch of videos if you search Apply Car play radio for Prius
