first time this has happened. Car was in a parking lot, unplugged and locked. As I pulled the handle to unlock it, it unlocked but instead of the usual two beeps, it beeped about five times (I didn't count them as I was not expecting this behaviour) and the hazards light flashed as well (I don't know if they flashed the same as the beep as I only noticed it as I sat down in the car). Car started normally and the drive home was normal. I tried to reproduce it and failed. Anybody saw this behaviour before?

Yeah had that happen in my 2017 Prius Prime a couple of times, even once getting out of it. Software would be the culprit as I think the door sensor keeps rechecking for a door lock/unlock sequence. Could be dry hands, use of gloves or even humidity or wetness. Just a guess on my part, though.

Just to be clear I'd mention it to the dealer just so it gets back to corporate about it.

Edited to make sure Toyota get notified.

Check the manual; On a regular car alarms - that would indicate that a sensor was tripped. The five beeps usually indicates which sensor. I haven't had that happen on my car yet, so I haven't dug into the manual.

    Hope this helps

I did check the manual before posting and there is nothing in it about it. Nothing that I could find anyway.

That beeping and flashing lights usually happens if you leave with your key but the car is still on or if it's off you try locking the doors with a key inside the cabin still. Your fob could have been marginally juuust out of range of the sensor and you could have just barely closed the door enough to make it think you were getting out without turning the car off or while jostling with the door the fob somehow clicked the door lock button while you were still in the car if it was turned off

The car will also beep (and display a message) if a window is down

    Windows were up.

I had just reached the car with the FOB in my pocket and pulled the handle (no gloves ) to open the car. A few times, it would simply refuse to unlock if I pulled too quickly after grabbing the handle. It wouldn't unlock but wouldn't beep like that either. This time, it unlocked and did that five time beeps with the flashers going.
