I've been told by someone that they have a 2010 Prius they say has the same body as the 2012 Prius v. Nowhere can I find any such gen 3 model that match such dimensions. Can anyone point to the specs sheet or website that would contain this type of the car? TIA

    That's false.

The Prius v's first model year was a 2012.

Now, if they're confusing v with the roman numeral V, then it's possible.

2010 and 2011 Gen 3 models used roman numerals (I through V) as trim levels so it's likely they're saying they have a Prius "Five"

That's the station wagon looking thingy right yeah I believe 2012 is it still the same bad engine and all that so it's going to be just like owning a Prius trim level 5 in 2010 but you'll be a station wagon in 2012 probably not ideal but if you're out of these cars before 170 generally the problem won't be on you or with you so your job is done.

No v wagon until model year 2012-17 in the US. It lived on overseas until 2021 essentially the same except overseas it had a factory lithium battery with proper bms and three seating rows. It was extremely popular as a taxi in Europe over Audis and Mercedes since it was not a belching noisy diesel and it’s AC worked extremely well. It also had a big reclining back seat.

If buying a v wagon used you want a 2015-17 model which had a mild styling refresh but also had better crash test ratings and came with much improved pistons and rings.

in the US the v wagon was superceded by the rav4 hybrid, which really became dominant in its 2019 update with a 2.5L dual injection dual vti engine.

I remember it was hard to find a new v wagon on dealer’s lots in 2016 and 17 so there are very few of them available today.

Ok thanks everyone for your input I will ask that person to send me dimensions and if they are exactly the Prius v measurements then I will know they are just copy and paste that info.

Also all I have to do is ask for interior photos since it's noticeably roomier even in pictures.

As Tideline Prius stated people are often confused by a 2010 Prius V meaning a sedan hatchback big V (trim 5)

    IMG_4321.jpeg

in 2012 Toyota introduced a Prius v meaning a Prius “station wagon”. Little v . For example my 2012 Prius v Three.

Toyota really threw in a lot of room for confusion by naming Gen3 trim levels by Roman numerals the first year or two, then changing trims levels to English words and Arabic numerals in various later years so that they could re-use the letter 'v-V' for something completely different. So this did cause some confusion between the 'V' as the top trim Liftback in 2010, and 'v' as the wagon in various trims in 2012+.

I seem to remember one short-time member here loving (and, unfortunately needing and mis-using) the lane keeping feature of her top-trim 2010 V. After that was totaled, she made a hurried purchase of a used 2012+ 'v', being assured by the dishonest used car salescritter (sorry for the redundancy) that it was equivalent to her 2010, which is was not. It was a lower trim lacking the lane keeping feature she coveted and needed, the trim-level 'V' vs body-style 'v' confusion mislead her.

We did some more research to verify the pros and cons of the different styles of Prius out there. Thanks to all your comments and AMD i.e. the car care nut we found a 2016 wagon or essentially minivan so we call it "the van" being a Prius v and big compared to our civic. I'm kinda obsessed with finding excuses for taking it out where I used to not want to go much anywhere. PXL_20240308_191004360.jpg

It's not a van, Toyota has a van, the Sierra I believe it's called.
The "V" is a station wagon.
