Hi Everyone! I took delivery of my Prime SE yesterday after waiting almost a year…I love it!!! First plug-in. I was debating this or a Chevy Bolt last year. I just didn’t want to go full EV at this time. Plus, given Chevy’s reliability reputation….Anyway….

I want to put seat covers on to make the seat more comfortable and protect the fabric. I’m thinking Wetokole or another brand of neoprene covers. I don’t want Katzkin, because I don’t want to spend quite that much and without heated seats; I prefer some type of fabric so it won’t be cold in the winter. Any other suggestions?

Also, I saw a discussion thread of putting the LED lights in the back of the light bar that’s missing on the SE. Is the consensus that it’s too costly/difficult to do? I was debating the SE or XSE, but so many of the XSE trims that were in allocation had options that I didn’t want. The resulting price jump from SE or a more loaded XSE with options wasn’t worth it to me. I didn’t want the sunroof that you can’t open, and the larger screen option that functions just the same as the smaller one. I’m ok with fabric seats. I had Softex seats before, and they are too hot in the summer without the cooling function and being black. I already bought new wheels to replace the stock ones(thanks aftermarket wheel discussion thread guys!) I’m having trouble locating TPM sensors for the new wheels, though. Discount Tire & Tire Rack don’t have any right now. Any other place I could find them besides OEM from Toyota?

Lastly, only received one key fob. I’m really worried I’ll never receive the second one. I’ve heard people talk about this issue. If you’ve read this far into the novel of this post, thanks for staying awake!

In terms of car seat covers, one thing to keep in mind is that you don’t want them to interfere with side airbag deployment. It’s because of this consideration that I focused my search on car seat covers that don’t wrap around the side of the seats. While I ended up purchasing front seat covers from Covercraft, I’m not really a fan of them (the fit isn’t great, imho).

With respect to the fob, it seems that all Prius purchasers only received a single fob on pickup and received the second fob later. If you haven’t already, downloading and registering within the Toyota app allows a faster way to be contacted when your second fob is ready.

Yes, I’m aware of making sure they don’t interfere with the airbags; that is important to keep in mind. I already have the app installed. Thanks

Please let me know if you find anything. I believe some car seat covers advertised as “air bag safe” use weaker stitching on the side, but I have no idea how that sort of thing is tested, never mind certified (if certification is even a possibility).

Same reason I went with the SE trim as well, then weeks later I found out that the lights differed between the SE and XSE/XSE Premium (front LED accent lights, lower front accent lights, differences in turn signal behavior and as you mentioned, the full width LED tail lights). Following this tread to hopefully learn more, thanks for starting it!

As far as the TPM sensors for the new wheels: you can use the ones that came with the original wheels. When I put new wheels on my Prime, that's what I did.

I was worried about the black upholstery getting dirty -- especially after owning a Sienna for 15 years and treating it like a truck!
So I went to a local thrift shop and bought a strip of dark fabric (for $1) and lay that over the rear seat. Helps considerably.
I may fabricate simple covers for the seat backs, but we very seldom have passengers in the back -- never, so far.
